Re: Noctua Thermal Paste
If toothpaste works for TIM, then most toothpastes will do their job more than adequately and there's no reason to buy premium TIM's. I know this as I have gone thru more than over 30 different types and brands during my silencing career. They all work well enough.

Re: Noctua releases NH-D15
Looks intresting. I like Noctua's coolers but so far most of their fans have had some tonality or weird side noises that has made me grind my teeth. PWM might be solution though, I haven't tested their latest fans though.

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 launches
Yesterday I worked with Fractal Design R3 and I loved how the case looked in real life and how things were done in that case. I am now officially considering replicating my trusty old Antec Solo with R4. Why? Because I have become very big fan of positive pressure. Especially dusty environment where...

Re: Cheap case which has good sound properties?
I had Antec 300 by itself it wasn't quiet, but it was cheap and after work: cutting fan grilles and replace some of them with wire grilles, adding two layers of bitumen matt floors, top and sides + foam on bottom and sides, I quadrupled its weight and it became very quiet case with Nexus Fans. That ...

Re: Phanteks PH-TC14PE Dual Fan CPU Heatsink
I read on OCN that FrostyTech has proven that "Red" (which is reviewed here) is cooler than Blue, Orange and White (Black wasn't tested). Maybe it is quieter or acoustically smoother as well. Now that is interesting. You think color would not affect all. Now all colors must test two or three to rem...

After lurking SPCR again past few years without being that active I was, I am back again. I am matured I guess and my focus has somewhat changed from absolute silencing into pleasant tonalities. After spending over 1/3 of my life silencing computers, years before I found SPCR and I can't even rememb...

Re: Antec P180 to Raven RV03 impressions
Your findings for RV-03 are pretty much like mine in FT-02. My case fans were smooth without tonalities though. There are variations in the fans and you may have a bad sample. What comes your worry that in low speed fans don't move enough air. Do not worry those AP-181 move seriously air at low spee...

Hello everyone! I am back after small hiatus! So, I bought Silverstone FT-02 without window whileback based on SPCR review. I was horrid to putout almost 200€'s to a case. Now over a years use, I am here to give a feedback. This is not user review or not to be treated as one, so I will post it here ...

H61's have basicly no stock in here atm at least in Mini-ITX form factor and mATX is too big for them. I don't know why. SSD pumps price too much for decent size one. Those fitting in budget are too small. Computer has to include also OS. Atom is no go, when male of the family had read about Core i3...

Re: Silent gaming PC - suggestions?
Better late than never: Yes, it's working great! The part making most noise in idle and in load is the fractal fans. It's only a very low hummering depending on the fan settings. E.g. played Crysis 2, 1920x1080, on lowest fan speed (I think the fan controllers lowest is ~600RPM), without any proble...

Thanks for the input. It helped me to decide my new PSU: Seasonix X-560. It will be way more than enough to run my 2500K + 460 GTX super clocked. I was torn between Enermaxes, Corsairs and Seasonics. Is the L2 silent though? I should be able to get the S1 at near the same price so what would the advantages of the L2 be over it? I tested L2 with my HD 4850. Re: should i upgrade my rig? 775 -> 1155
If your 775 is fine and you don't need to upgrade it, it might be wiser to keep 775 in P180 and build 1155 ITX. It costs more but its good to have back up machine. Hpwever what do you plan to do with the mini ITX? If you keep 775 rig its perfectly able to play modern games no sweat and then you don'...
