Re: SilverStone KL07: Perfect case?
Old thread but has anyone used the drive caddy to suspend their HDD's? Out of all the current cases available to buy, the KL07 drive caddy looks big enough to suspend 2 drives with bungee to totally silence any vibrations. *Can the Define C hold 2 suspended HDDs? doesn't look big enough to me. Also,...

Re: MSI 270x HAWK - a silent gpu for gamers
The Solo II is on the floor. When I said "idle", I actually mean watching blu-ray and movie files as well. Noticed that the HD7750 did increase the clock speed during videos, although there was no fan to ramp up. Not sure whether the 270x behaves the same way. Yes, more or less it behaves same way....

Re: MSI 270x HAWK - a silent gpu for gamers
If you're refering to the Gaming edition I would say it's very quiet at idle, unless your room is an anechoic chamber you won't notice it imo. It depends. If you have your mid-tower in front of your nose, like I have, you will notice it, easily, while you can't notice a passive card (like the one h...

I would say quiet, but FAR from being silent: at which distance do you sit from the PC?

No idea torp. I suggest googling for the model you're after as it can be very hit and miss with PSU'storp wrote:Does this buzzing issue show up on fanned PSUs as well, or just their fanless range?

Re: Second Seasonic Fanless 520w Platinum also buzzes/squeal
If you're lucky you'll get one that doesn't buzz but I had two in a row that made the same noise so I would say Scan have a bad batch on their hands. How big the batch is I don't know but I couldn't face a third buzzing PSU so bought a superflower 500w fanless from overlockers. I'm very impressed wi...

Re: Second Seasonic Fanless 520w Platinum also buzzes/squeal
You can here the buzz even before you run the stress test, it's just louder when the load is greater. I didn't get a chance to run my system under load but the buzzing was too much even at idle (as I have a very silent solo 2 system, PSU and grill at the top so sound will easily escape). I can't bel...

I don't know about Scan, but when I buy from Amazon I've no worries to RMA any item to them once, twice, three or more times, as it's free of charge and very quick (I receive the replacement usually two or three working days after I ask for return). Totally agree with you BUT Amazon uk don't sell t...

Well I spent this morning over at my brothers unplugging his SS P-520 FL and then connecting my motherboard power cables to his PSU. Switched on and.... no buzzing what so ever. Well, so RMA also that second one back to Scan (write down its serial number, then cross your fingers). I won't be going ...

Well I spent this morning over at my brothers unplugging his SS P-520 FL and then connecting my motherboard power cables to his PSU. Switched on and.... no buzzing what so ever. I think this rules out my system components as the culprit and squarely puts the problem down to the Seasonic's quality co...

Also, the fact my bothers PSU (same model) doesn't make any squeals, proves they can do it. Is he running exactly the same components though? Prior experience with these problems on this forum shows it is down to motherboard and it's configuration. If there's any chance you could try your brothers ...

Re: Second Seasonic Fanless 520w Platinum also buzzes/squeal
I highly suspect it is all down to acoustic acuteness. That is, most Seasonic PSUs allegedly generate high-frequency coil whining, which is not audible to all people. In fact, I sympathise those engineers working in Seasonic a little bit because Far East Asia (particularly Taiwan) is far from tranq...

Second Seasonic Fanless 520w Platinum also buzzes/squeals
RMA'd the first one back to Scan and now the second produces the very same buzzing/high pitch squeal. It's housed in an Antec Solo 2 so the noise leaks out very easily through the top grill, I have chosen silent components for the whole rig and this noise stands out plus it's hard to sit next to it ...

The gaming edition R9 270X fits in the Antec Solo if anyone is interested. There's roughly a 2-3mm gap from then end of the card to drive cage. http://i.imgur.com/utTHHIx.jpg Just to confirm you were able to get the below 260mm card in the original Antec Solo!? http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R9-270...

Antec Solo ii and cpu heatsink choice
About to purchase the mb & cpu cooler for my new build but trying the find the best combo which allows dimm slots (2 & 4) on an MSI Z87 G45 to be used along with the height restriction of a Solo II case is not easy. I had been leaning towards the Mugen 4 but the fan sits over the first two dimm slot...

Re: MSI 270x HAWK - a silent gpu for gamers
AMD's Mantle could be really impressive, more information about it should appear at the next APU tech press meeting (which I think is this week). For me, letting developers get the most out of a card through a very thin driver layer is the best software based improvement in years for the PC. The fir...

Not necessarily: TPU -- MSI R9 280X GAMING 3 GB Well the 280X also produces more heat overall. I was mainly wondering whether the Gaming edition would always be quieter than respective Hawk/Lightning edition for the same GPU. At least from the example in the links I posted, it would seem so. If it ...

Would it have been possible to remove the 3 Windforce fans and use the two Scythe Slipstreams instead ? It looks like a meaty enough heatsink.

From what I've read the GDDR3 memory doesn't run much lower than 450-500MHz in 2D (IDLE) state, without some instability. That's a shame, it seems reducing the memory speed returns the biggest power savings. Does 160/500 for a 4850 reduce it's power consumption by much ? * Do you have any links abo...

Hybrid SLI - non performance mode
This sounds interesting. Nvidia’s Hybrid SLI performance mode will mean that your chipset gets boosted by an external GPU in performance and that it probably shows another name in the driver so your PC will tell you have better graphics than you had before. If you are not into performance and you ...
