Thanks for this information. That wouldn't be too much a problem as I am only planning on using it with my exhausts/intakes (1200rpm s-flex) and don't plan on ever having those fans run at full speed.

Looking for Fan Controller Recommendation
Does anyone have any experience with the silverstone one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999047 with scythe fans. One review says a scythe develops clicking with it while in use. I have been using Subean Rheobus exclusively in th past but decided to look for something more d...

The length of this card is about the same as a motherboard, and in the right sized case the card itself could be used as the top side of an air chamber / duct. The case side panel would be another side and the bottom of the case would be the bottom. With a slow moving fan in front and open PCI-slot...

Cov, assuming you still want your rig to be as quiet as possible (hence posting on this forum). The CPU fan sucks air towards the CPU and the PSU sucks air through its PSU case towards outside ... is that right ? Yes, and this means that both fans would be trying to get air from that puny 10mm space...

Not all is lost, building a tolerable SFF gaming rig is def. possible. The e8400 is a good place to start. Two problems with your current configuration. 1. The CPU HSF and PSU fan would be competin for airflow 2. The GPU stock cooler would perform poorly and/or be loud Suggestions: 1. Not sure if it...

I would take a more serious look at the intel options. The e4400 and e4500 easily push 3ghz (though tops at 3.3) with no or minimum voltage increase. You can also get an abit ip35-e for around 70 dollars shipped these days. I wouldn't consider hybrid crossfire a real option yet as the technology has...

I second the Ninja with bolt thru kit option. You can get the bolt-thru kit from sidewinder (Thermlaright's not so official byt official accesories store) or get screws and nuts from your local store. Just make sure you have some long skinny screw drivers. I also choose the ninja over the minja beca...

Not sure if your order processed yet. I have a solo and the without modding, you won't benefit from from the larger diameter of the 100mm fan because the way the front fan grilss are shaped. For silent computing, anything beyond 1000-1200rpm would be questionable. Of course this doesn't matter if yo...

Just adding some subjective opinion of the fan. It's slightly louder than the previous Zalman I had (VF700) at 5V but also pushes more air. My overall system temp actually went down coming from a 7900gs (OCed to 600Mhz). The fan's noise can be characterized by a motor noise at a higher pitch than th...

May I recommend a TRUE (Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme) for your setup. The Ninja might not be able to OC your Q6600 as well if you are considering that. I have been disappointed by the Ninja's performance (with blot-thru kit and fan, not debating it's status as best passive sink) and MikeC's latest...

I have a 7900gs with an Zalman VF700 on it. The 7900gs is OCed to 590 so heat output should be comparable. The zalman has a terrible fan but passable at 5V Cools the card well enough. You can try a fan swap if you have the time. With good airflow, Zalman the VNF 100 or Mascool should also do the job...

One problem with the Asus P5E-VM HDMI is it only has 1 standard PCI slots with 2 PCIe slots. Is there cards available for that? I think eventually I may need: Video Card will use PCIe x16 Sound Card Dual Tuner TV Card Expansion slots on P5E-VM HDMI: 1 x PCIe x16 2 x PCIe x1 1 x PCI Get a motherboar...

The issue of multiple vs single fans is clear with the Nexus 120. Two of them at 6V move as much air as a single one at 12V, and make 2-3 dBA LESS NOISE!! I don't think there's any way in hell this is true. CFM does not follow voltage, it follows WATTAGE. Anyone here familiar with Ohm's law knows t...

CPU: I'd go with an e4400/e4500 to save money. Those can easily OC to 3Ghz quietly (with decent cooling) and you can still upgrade later. HSF: Checkout the ninja. Not sure how it is in the UK, but in the US, ninjas can be had for almost half the price of a TRUE, and the newer packages come with slip...

Above is a link to a MSI 8800gt with a narrower version fo GV1000. It should have similar noise characteristics to the VF-1000. If not, It'd always be possible to do a fan swap since it's a 80mm on it.

Great post. I took the doors off my P180B immediately and closely examed the vents. The cross section of the "slats" look like -------------------------- Fron _ | | | ---- Back -------------------------- rather than a strickly triangluar shape. So it's possible to just cut the back piece of the cros...
