Thanks, Neil, that looks like a great option! I haven't liked the idea of the heaviness of the other options, and when I looked at the listings on the recommended heatsink page, this one didn't even show up. I appreciate the link, and will order it right away.
Thanks!

Can you mod a Zalman CNPS 9500?
Hello, I read the review of the Zalman CNPS 9500 heatsink here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article267-page1.html and while it looks like a pretty good design for the heatsink, the fan is too loud. So I was wondering if anyone has tried modding the heat sink so that you could attach a larger, quie...

Now I know this doesn't put much strain to create heat on the system, but I left the machine running in BIOS overnight actually sitting in BIOS equates to a 70-80% load on the CPU (I don't know why). so I would say you are perfectly safe with a single fan. Wow, I had no idea it would do that. That ...

Ok, here is my current project: Antec NSK-3480 case; MSI micro-ATX mobo (K9NBPM2-FID) with onboard video, sound, NIC, etc; AMD 45 watt BE-2350 CPU, 2x 2 GB sticks of A-Data DDR2 800 RAM; WD 80 GB HDD (WD800JD) for the system drive; Asus SATA DVD-ROM, and old PCI WinTV tuner card; and a Scythe Mini-N...

Tip: Protect wires from sharp edges on cut sheet metal:
Ok, I'm pretty happy about this. I got an Antec NSK-4380 case, and while it is pretty good, it needs a couple small changes. For one, on the power supply compartment on the mobo side of the case, there should be a hole to route unused power cables out of the way. So I cut a hole about the same size ...

Ok, tried again this morning and with not too much effort, the cpu twisted off of the heatsink. After putting it all back together, boots up to BIOS (haven't installed the OS yet), so all seems ok!
Thanks for the help!

Ok, I will give those ideas a shot in the morning, thanks for the advice. I will see if best buy carries that AS5 cleaner, or use alcohol and a blow dryer. I didn't use any extra thermal compound, just the stuff that comes already on the stock heatsink. As for pulling it off, I never expected that, ...

Help! CPU stuck to Heatsink!
Oh, crap! I tested out my new mobo and AMD processor with the stock fan, then decided to go with the Ninja mini, which finally arrived today. So I tried to take the heat sink off, unclipped it, and found that for some reason, it wasn't coming off. So I applied a little pressure and it popped off. Im...

Recommend HDD cooler for 5.5" bay?
Hello, I have an Antec NSK-3480 case. It comes with 2 5.5" bays, but I only need one for the DVD player. I am trying to mod a pair of hanging HDD's into the main part of the case, so I want the system drive to sit in one of the top bays, and I was thinking of putting it in the top bay, above the DVD...

Several of us have been able to use a Ninja in the 3400 case, but as noted, this also depends on your motherboard, whether you'll bump into caps or components. But to answer your question about how do you find out what fits, the best way I can think of is to ask here, or search the archives. In a 3...

How do you figure out how big a HS you can fit?
I am waiting for my new Antec NSK3480 case and I know it is pretty tiny, but it seems that there might be enough room for a fair range of heatsinks. But I'm not sure. How can I find out what HS dimensions I can go with before the case gets here? I'd like to get that all installed as quick as possibl...

Abit AN-M2 mATX mobo, Ninja Plus Rev. B heatsink. They're a good match for the NSK3480, IMO. I've got an MSI K9NBPM2-FID mobo. Still stock heatsink until I figure out what I want to put in there. Are you using that heatsink without a fan? Looking at you picture, it might be too tight to hang the dr...

Ha! Shaman, you are right, I pulled up the pics and the only difference in the frames is the rear fan grate! I really doubt that grate is worth the $60 difference! Thanks for the replies! I checked the reviews on the Silverstone TJ08. At first, that looked like the perfect option (though expensive at $99), but the reviews point out a problem with the very thin metal construction leading to warping and rattling. Have you gotten it yet? As for the NSK1380, it so...

Thanks for the replies! I looked at the Antec NSK1380, but it's a little confusing because the specs say 3 internal HDD bays, but customer reviews say it only has 1. Also, it doesn't seem to be cheap at $99: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129038 I'm also a little concerned ...

Hello, I've been going through the forums and searches and not having much luck, not enough to make a definite decision, so I thought I would ask here. Does RAM speed affect temperature much?
Hi, I was wondering if DDR2 RAM speed makes much difference to case temperature? The mobo I am looking at supports DDR2 800 RAM, but I was won...

Does the Motherboard have much to do with cooling/quietness?
I have seen odd comments on some Newegg reviews where people say that the motherboard they bought "runs cool". Does the type of ATX or micro-ATX mobo really have that much of a thermal effect? I did a search on the boards, but couldn't find anything that matched this question. I am trying to put tog...

Re: Thanks!
My girlfriends computer runs a LE-1100 on a ASUS M2A-VM HDMI board using onboard GFX and it runs "Sims 2" and "My horse and me just fine". Hmmm... So I guess if I went with that cpu, it would be easier to passively cool than a 4200+? Don't the Sempron/Celeron lines cut out some processor features?
