That looks awesome. I would love to see a Sonata with that all installed. The last time I talked to the AcoustiProducts Rep, he said N/A suppliers would have this product within weeks of its release. I don't think it would be harder than any other dampening material install. In fact, with all the pr...

For CD-RW, I'd have to say the Plextor Premium. Its "Silent Mode" feature works REALLY well.
But if Plextor prices are too high for you, my next choice would definitely be the Samsung SM-348 that al bundy recommended.

I need a drive that I can mount in the 3.5" HD spots of the Sonata or P160 case.
I don't have the space to mount it elsewhere.

Im in the same boat as you. Tho I dont have the 7200.7, it is on order, and I already gave a deposit. I will turn a round and sell the drive, but I don't know which drive to get as a replacment. I know that the Baracuda IV, and V are both very quiet, but I want something with a more performance. Doe...

Seems like you'll have to wait a month to find out anyway, if they're not going to be available until mid November. Well a Canadian company called RBComputing apears to have them in stock. When I said "TY" I was mostly referring to the Japanese Fujis. I pick 'em up from BestBuy with their rebate deals. I've also bought unbranded TY's in 100pc cakeboxes when I've been running low on Fujis but they do cost about 3x as much. Yeah I pretty much only buy Fuji's. When I did some tests a wh...

TY stands for Taiyo Yuden which is the name of a manufacturing company that makes recordable CD and DVD media. remember back in 1997 when plextor was the ONLY super reliable drive for working with audio? ahh the good old days. Wait, isn't that still the case? I think I'd be hard pressed to find a pr...

That’s a great idea Abe. Actually I had a similar idea about the fan grills. I know why case manufacturers put them there, and Antec has really reduced the amount of turbulence that the ones on their cases make, but it’s still not perfect. I was thinking that they should make the grill removable. Fo...

That’s weird because in the CDR-Info review it never went above 210. And even then it only broke 200 when burning 4x media at 8x, or when burning crappy Verbatim or Maxell. Its also interesting to note that the reviews believe the drive's minor issues will be resolved shortly with a firmware update....

Oh okay cool. Its hard to read the person's "tone of voice" over the internet. :)

Exactly. TY's and FujiFilm are awesome on Plextor's but apparently Lite-On (i think) doesn't like TY at all. Which is odd, since TY is generally regarded as one of the (if not the) best media brands.

What media are you using? Because it sounds to me like a media issue. From burner to burner one brand of media can have vastly different results. Also check out the review at CDR-Info. I bought my fancy-ass 40x Plextor last year and very rarely ever burn at over 20x. Unless you're burning dozens and dozens of discs every day it shouldn't be an issue. Fire up the burner at 20x, go get a drink of water or pee, come back and your burn is done. I use the extra 1.5 minutes of differen...

That IDE port on the front is odd. Maybe if it was a server case I would understand, but this isn't. Maybe they are just trying to be "different".
