Re: looking for a printer that wont screw me over.

I'm not sure whether they are still producing them, but Kodak used to go down the cheap-refill route for their ink-jets.

Annoying thing about laser printers is their possibly high standby-consumption and potentially (under research) nasty emissions from printing (ozone, fine-dust, etc.).

Re: Silverstone ML05 mini-ITX HTPC case

We could release a 250W SFX based off of our ST30SF for example, but the price difference would likely be less than $5 (something like $45.99 vs. $49.99) and you can probably see why we decided to release only the 300W version. With the right marketing and customer education, I'm sure one can estab...

I will wait and see what the true benefits of direct x 11.2 are. If any games even use them. Barely any even use direct x 11.0 properly. If microsoft can give me a compelling reason why I should spend 100 dollars I will. The way I look at it it is their fault for putting out a piece of crap product...

igoring line 1 and item like chocolate, we are talking about a core temperature of 47 deg. C (for e.g., Prolimatech PK1) to 63 deg. C. (ThermalRight The Chill Factor) i.e., some TIM can do a core temperature of 47 deg. C, and yet some other can only do 63 deg. C. That's a 16 deg. C between differen...

If everyone thought like you then we wouldn't even get the option of having thunderbolt. And like firewire the interface doesn't consume cpu cycles like usb. I don't think that is how it works. True, the early adopters are important, however, the interface seems very much a private concoction betwe...

I agree with Steve. Don't quit your job. Last time I rejected a sure thing that I couldn't console with my happiness, I had to find out the hard way that 1 year of unemployment is a looong and even unhappier time. Also, jobcentres are full of useless people.

Re: Advice on shipping PCs with large/heavy heatsinks

The bigger problem is finding an outer box 6" larger in each dimension than my current case box, as per Fedex recommendations, which would make it 29*26*16". I think I might have to just try and find a box around the same size as the case one, 23*20*10", but stronger and more suitable for shipping ...

Yeah, that sounds like a recipe for disaster, with a little bit of foil left behind and blowing the thing up as soon as he switches it on  It could be. But you could make sure only the wrap the stabilising foam pieces with the heavy variant of the foil. Is your brother really that clumsy and ...

I just got two of these off the bay and had a quick listen outside the case - sound pretty decent to me, that is I can barely hear them at ~7V from ~half a meter distance. I'd also wager you sh...

Macs could do less (for the same money anyway) but they were less prone to breakage which is what pissed off the average user (as opposed to computer lab pranks).
