Re: Fanless Power Supply PC Build Guide
Great article. How do you think your system would fair in the original Antec Solo verses the Solo II. Im looking to build A DAW in a Solo that I already have on hand. Will not have a Graphics card though, so power requirements should be even less. I just thought it would be nice to see a side by sid...

SSD set up
Does anyone happen to know of any articles that explain optimal OS and program setup on an SSD. I know that the drives are good for reading but not writing. The more they get written on the slower they get and the quicker they die. I'm looking for some help on how to install W7 and programs on the d...

Use lots of VST and VSTi
I use mainly Ableton Live which does take advantage of multicore CPUs. I do traditional recording which is not too CPU intensive, however I also do experimental music using Samples, VIs, and live audio with VSTs on many tracks. I want a machine that is more powerful than I need so I can experiment w...

Dropping Raid
Thanks for the Help, I have been convinces to drop the raid. If I ever do build a RAID it will be outside of the DAW. I'm still thinking about which processor to put in the system. I really like the processors with Turbo and HyperThreading. However a Q9550S is only 65w, but really expensive. Will it...

Running mostly Ableton Live with lots of effects, instruments, tracks and vsts. I will be doing a lot of in house sampling. I know this may be overkill but I would like to build a...

q9400s
Has anyone done a build with the q9400s. It seems like a good chip for a DAW. Powerful yet only 65wats. Is there any difference in the performance compared to the q9400? The only drawback is the price, but maybe that will drop in the next quarter. I really would like the q9550s but that is $350. Sto...

1156 vs 1366
It seems like there are quad core 95w chips on the LGA 1156.
Is intel going to build new chips on both of these sockets for the foreseeable future?
Sorry for the double post.

i7 130w
Those chips are great for the money, but a little power hungry.
Are there any chips for that socket that run less than 130w.
If not are there any in the works? It seems that intel is going to go down to 35nm and should use less watts.

When to build Upgradable BFB DAW
I've been looking to build a DAW for some time now. Is now a good time or should I wait for a new chipset to have mor...

Ok, I decided to wait till the fall to build. By this time I should know the status on drivers for the my Onyx on 64 OSs. Plus hopefully prices will drop and/or better tech for the$. Thanks for all the advice. I looked at the Asus specs for the P5K-E. It did not say it had any USB. Maybe USB is so standard they did not list it. Other than that it looked great. If someone could clarify that would be great. "Quad core - unnecessary for audio work. You'll barely put a dual core und...

Audio Editing, Recording Studio PC Build
I'm looking to build a deidicated audio workstation. No internet. I'm using Ableton Live as my Rec/Editing Software. It does take advantage of multiprocessing.
