IIRC red is 12v, black is ground and yellow is the tach line. Plugging it into a 3 pin header on the motherboard shouldn't be an issue. As per controlling it, I think SpeedFan might only be able to control PWM, not really sure though, I don't use it to control my fans, they are all controlled by the...

Yeah, if it went any higher I would have shut it down, it actually took about 20 minutes or so to get up to 93. Well, at least now I know that I *can* run my card passive with my CPU cooler blowing hot air into the case instead of out of it; it just isn't a good idea. Any suggestions for making it q...

It should be fine, the 4th pin is for PWM. PWM fans can still be controlled with voltage. PWM just gives you a little more precision with the control, though it can also cause a clicking sound.

I can't say for all 4830s, but my MSI 4830 doesn't have PowerPlay at all. I can manually reduce the core and memory frequencies with RivaTuner, but using RBE to make PowerPlay profiles is fairly pointless since underclocking the core only makes a difference in power consumption (read: heat) when it ...

Wow, I'm a Moron.

So, I decided to install my Accelero Twin Turbo on my 4830 last night. To my horror, the idle GPU temp had gone up from low 50s C to low 60s C. I freaked out a little then thought 'Well, the stock cooler had the fan on 100% all the time.' So, I went and got F@H GPU client and the memory got up to 93...

how do you get blue screens without a monitor?

Ok, so what you did was take a card with working PowerPlay (voltage and frequency) and reduced the voltage settings on the PowerPlay profiles even further?

What about core/memory frequency in 2d?

I considered hybrid-power for a long time. At least for me, it was really plausible since I need 3-4 video outs and it seems kind of self-defeating to have 2 discrete and 1 integrated... I lied, its still 2 bits but it is slower memory. Unfortunately, it is also only 5-10% cheaper than the Vertex. Unless Newegg or someone has some crazy MIR deals or price reductions, it seems like they will be a wash.

BTW, it is called the "Agility Series"

But yeah, the S1 rev. 2 is the best passive GPU cooler.

If it isn't for gaming you probably don't need a ton of speed out of your CPU either... All of the top rated heatsinks should be able to cool a 65w or lower CPU passively.

With GPU and CPU just monitor their temps. You should be fine as long as you don't decide to overclock everything, stress test it and have the case exhaust into itself. Even if something gets too hot, the computer will more than likely crash before any damage is done. Right now I just have a mobo co...

OCZ is coming out with a cheaper version of the vertex, still uses the indillnx (sp?) controller. Your best bet is to probably just replace the fans on the twin turbo and stick that on the 9800GTX+. There is no reason to spent another ~$100-$150 on a graphics card. The biggest problem you will run into is that you are looking at cards that can use ~100w and there is no easy and quiet way to cool...
