Interested in suggestions for low power 3 monitor card

I have a fanless 1GB 4670 driving a pair of Dell G2410H monitors. I really want 3, the two seems unbalanced. I'd like to keep power low. I'm idling around 100watts with both 24" monitors , a Xeon L3426, an Intel SSD, and the mentioned 4670. I've seen a quad port 4670 but it was really expensive. The...

Nice rig! Good low power numbers considering how much processing power it has. Thanks for all the great pics and information.

L3406 spec sheet says it does support ECC http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=47555 If you could give us some power readings at some point that'd be nice, and maybe some more info on the setup you've got running? Don't have a Kill-A-Watt yet. Will post as soon as I get one. Asus P7F-E motherboard (...

I just got a Xeon L3426 running. It's rated at 45W TDP. I don't have any power readings yet. Rate at 1.87Ghz, it idles at 1.2GHz and boosts to 3.2GHz as needed. I like the fact that I can use ECC memory, which I wouldn't be able to do with an i-series.

Looking for low power sound card

I'm putting together a new system. I'm trying to have it use as little power as possible while still having fast performance. I got all my parts ordered Friday, but I forgot to get a sound card! Can someone recommend a low power PCI or MIO-PCI sound card? I'm using an Asus motherboard that supports ...

Lowest power motherboard with QuickPath support?

Any suggestions as to a motherboard that supports QuickPath (QPI) that has a nice low power consumption? I'm trying to get as much processing power as possible while still keeping idle power low as possible.

Thanks

Looking for good LED-backlit 1920x1080 monitors

I'm wondering if folks have suggestions for good LED-backlit monitors with at least 1920x1080 resolution. I'm planning to buy two of them, so price is a factor. However, I'm also going to be staring at them all day every day, so they need to be good quality.

Thanks for any help.

It seems the individual memory cells can wear out on SSDs? Many of them employ "wear leveling" to spread it around. Not sure how this translates in the long-term.

I regularly backup to an external drive. Even with backups, data loss or even worse, unknown corruption, would be a pain to deal with.

I do a lot of freelance quick fixes, so I usually just download the whole site, make a copy, then do the fixes on the copy, then upload any changed files. So I'll have a copy of the original site, and a copy of the changed site. Yeah, it's kind of crude but for that type of work it's easier.

SSD Reliability

I'm going to be purchasing a new laptop within the next month or so. If I decide to get an SSD I'll likely order the laptop with an HDD, then purchase the SSD separately so I can get one that's higher quality than what's usually bundled. I do web development, so I do a lot of file searches and a lot...

Two-wire fan connection

I'm building myself an air purifier using a pair of Nexus fans. I need to feed them 12vdc from a wall wart. The fans have three wires - red, black and yellow. I'm assuming I can ignore the yellow and just connect + to the red, and - to the black. Is that correct?

Thanks

ATI and Linux

I keep hearing comments that ATI cards don't like to work with Linux. Can someone give some more info on this? I have my eye on a 4670. I'll most likely be using Windows 7 on it, but at some point I want to give Ubuntu a shot. Will it work? What about the 4650? I'm also considering a laptop that has...

Looking for 4670 with least power consumption

I really like what I've read about the 4670 power consumption, especially at idle. But I'm having a hard time matching the models in the reviews to models that are actually available. Does anyone have any recommendations for a 4670 with as little power consumption as possible? This will be driving a...

Video card for two monitors and as little power as possible

I'm wondering what video card would be a good choice for driving two monitors at 1920x1080 and using as little electricity as possible. It should also have solid Linux drivers.

Thanks for any info :-)

Advice for new i5 build

I had previously been looking at building a small and quiet desktop that would use as little electricity as possible. But some recent video work has made me realize I need more CPU power. I'd still like to minimize electricity consumption as much as possible. I'm thinking that an i5 on a good mainbo...

Does anyone know of an Nvidia 9400M mainboard that will take a Core 2 Duo? The only ones I've found have an Atom 330 soldered on them.

I'm researching the parts for a new computer. It will be primarily used for web deveopment - text editing, ftp, GIMP, Inkscape. I'm getting along ok now with an old Dell Inspriron B130 - Celeron M at 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM, Win XP, but it does bog down every now and then. I want to be able to leave my new ...
