Re: Seasonic Prime Ultra - Bad Fan and Bequiet Straight Powe
The Bequiet Straight Power 11 650W version but I am sure the higher wattage ones use the same fan model.

Re: Seasonic Prime Ultra - Bad Fan and Bequiet Straight Powe
In the end I bought another Bequiet Straight power 11 and it is one of the quietest power supplies I have had. Even if the seasonic did not have the bearing rumble / clicking it still would be louder than the bequiet but not by much, just the horrid fan they use in the top tier units is an odd choic...

Re: Seasonic Prime Ultra - Bad Fan and Bequiet Straight Powe
I am not against the idea of a switch on the psu that works in hybrid mode but I like the idea of some control and a fan test. This put me off the Corsair RMx line since it is passive up to a certain load with no way to test the fan. Also the RMi series with internal usb connection and fan on option...

Seasonic Prime Ultra - Bad Fan and Bequiet Straight Power 11
I am trying to buy a new psu 650W - 750W but not having any luck. My first was the new Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 750W which is very nicely made but the new FDB fan was noisy. A constant clicking / ratcheting noise since I wanted to run it in normal mode, not hybrid. So after an RMA I got a new B...

Re: Passively Cooled R9 270 by Powercolor
I have just bought one of these and I am very impressed. As suggested have a low rpm fan blowing air onto the h/s. I am using a fan at 500rpm mounted off the heatsink on an L shaped bracket on the case rear to avoid vibration noise and it runs much cooler than my old Gigabyte 5750 silentcell in the ...

More tests
OK, done some more tests. Borrowed a psu and same problem. Removed all pci cards leaving just a bare system, m/b, cpu, mem, psu, vid.. same problem I even re-seated the south-bridge with fresh h/s compound. This is looking like a Southbridge problem but this is a new fault to me. Anyone else seen dr...

Hardware ECC Recovered Count increasing on 3 drives !!
I was copying a large file the other day in linux and got an IO error and lock-up. Very odd for linux as it rarely crashes like that. I then noticed the Hardware ECC recovered count on the drive increasing constantly as it is used. They were previously zero. I thought it was a bad drive so swapped i...

850W Coolermaster SilentProM RS850AMBA
Has anyone any experience of these newer modular psu's from cooler master ? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/850W-Coolermaster-SilentProM-RS850AMBA I keep looking at the Corsair 750HX and 850HX modular but am worried about fan noise on this Corsair range and these newer Coolermaster psu's look designe...

SAMSUNG HD502HI Firmware Version: 1AG01113
Just for info... My 500G samsung makes exactly the same clunk-click sound at startup. There is a few seconds delay with this noise whilst the drive calibrates ? This I don't mind.. but was very worrying at first. BTW my 1T eco drive in a caddie does exactly the same thing. However in low use the dri...
