my experience
I've experienced a similar issue on my intel motherboard. It's an older Pentium 4, Socket 478 motherboard (intel D865PERL). According to the intel monitoring software this board has 3 temperature zones--Zone 1, Zone 2, and CPU Zone. According to the intel website Zone 2 corresponds to your VRM zone ...

One more thing I came across - the idea of higher velocity of air through the case. I received my Fortress FT02 last weekend and temporarily migrated my current Pentium 4 system into it. My ultimate goal is to build a new Core i7 860 system in the Fortress, but I need to save up some more money before I start ordering parts. The Pentium 4 system was housed in an Antec Solo and I mu...

In the wintertime where the temp here in Southern California is 20°C and all fans are on high, the CPU temp at load is 40-42°C. I haven't tested this new setup in the summert...

Antec Solo build advice
I've been experimenting with my old Pentium 4 system with the hopes of upgrading to a faster computer early next year. The system has always been very loud and would frequently overheat in the summertime when ambient temps would regularly hit 95°F (35°C). I don't do a lot of gaming, but I do quite...
