To ECC or not to ECC, that's the question
Well, there's a lot of smart people here so I figured I'd get your input on this. I am a finance ph.d. and run a lot of math/statistical programs on my PC. Some of my data sets are several GB in size and I hope to have 8 gigs of RAM in my system at some point in the future. I've always gone back and...

Larger Capacity 2.5" drives when?
I was wondering if there's any time frame on 200/250 gig 2.5" drives... I wanted to use one for picture archieving but 160gig is a little too short for my taste..
Thanks,
Chris

No floppy connectors on my S12-430?!
I have a S12-430 I bought last summer. The instuction manual claims it has 2 floppy power connections. Newegg claims it has 2 floppy power connections. The SR review say it has 2 floppy connections. Either I've gone batty or this thing has 0 floppy power connections on it. Can anyone help me out?! D...

Nice power savings - imagine if they didn't put in the 7900. I wonder if you can do any small ocing on that board.

BOXD975XBXLKR and ECC Ram
It's unclear to me whether you can just put ECC ram in this board or if the board actually uses the ECC feature. Anyone know?

A little bump for this thread here. On the original stats, the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA is running a CD2 correct? I just want to make sure as the Duo Core laptop motherboards are using a origina CD right? I guess I was looking at going to the mobile side to save power, especially when I wasn't using much...

PCI card that does 1440x900
Well, I accidently got a widescreen monitor for my wife... thinking it was 4:3 or whatever. In any case, not a big deal except the ol' onboard graphics only goes up to 1280x1024. I only have a PCI slot. Do the Radeon 9250 cards at the egg go up to 1440x900? Obviously, no gaming or anything here - ju...

Which fan is best to use for the XP-120 on a 775 socket? the Nexus? Also, what power pin configuration do I need to plug it into the motherboard?
Thanks!

20 pin main connector... now 24... ??
My friend and I are both looking to upgrade, but we're a little lost on the power situation. We both have the Seasonic Super Silencer http://www.silentpcreview.com/article97-page1.html I have the 400 watter and he has the 300 watter. In any case, I'm totally confused on what's up with power requirem...

The titan looks nice. I'm a little confused on these specifications. Newegg says the case can support "Fits up to Extended ATX(30.5 x 33 cm ) including CEB Specification." What the heck is that?? And then this supermicro board is EATX but seems too big? http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard...

Quiet, compact eATX case
I know the title of this topic is an oxymoron, but are there any nice quiet eATX cases out there in the mid-size variety? I'm having trouble finding one.

AOpen i975Xa-YDG noise with stock fans
Does anyone have the AOpen i975Xa-YDG? I'm curious how bad the stock fan noise is? I'm pretty risk adverse with a $400 CPU and a $300 board so I'd rather not mess with them...

Chris

To ECC or not to ECC that is the question
Well, I am going to upgrade my box here very soon and debating whether or not to go with ECC RAM. I understand the concept - I'm just not sure if it's really worth it for my situation. I leave my box on 24 hours a day for Folding@home, but I reboot it once a day to clean everything out. My new box w...

Speed comparison with ATI 9600 nonpro
I am considering upgrading my computer and one of my areas of confusion is the speed of current video cards. I currently am running an ATI 9600 non-pro. How the heck does this compare to the current crop of cards? I don't know how fast it is to say an ATI 1300 or so. I know that the new cards seem t...
