do we know how much more power the x38 takes as compared to the p35? I like the option to go with ECC.

Thanks,

Needs screws for SLK2700

Good morning- I bought an antec case many moons ago - I think it's a 2700 or a 3700 or something like that. In any case, it has the hard drive case where you have the gromets and need the long screws to mount hard drives. I have two of the new Samsung drives and need to mount them. Any idea where I ...

FS: PCI Video card and fans

I have a FX5200PCI video card for sale. It seems to have 128megs of RAM. $10 + shipping and it's yours. I also have 4 fans for sale. 3 fans are the Antec 3 speed fans that come in the p180b case. $4 each + shipping or $10 + shipping for all 3. I finally have a Scythe SY1225SL12M as well. $5 + shippi...

Do you think I should go for the 750gig Western Digital or the Samsung? I'd love to get the 1TB model, but I'm putting 2 of these in a RAID 1 and it would be $200 more for only 250gigs... I would wait for the 640gig model, but that model will have the same STR and less cache. I'm not sure how that w...

Life of SSDs?

So, what is the REAL life of a SSD? I'm thinking about getting one as a "scratch" drive for my notebook. The Mtron ones say they are good for 50GB for over 140 years... that seems like it would be more than enough writes for 5 years or more. http://www.mtron.net/English/Product/ProductDetail.asp?ite...

OK I went with the Ninja and a 500rpm fan. After 4 hours of burning in, core temp (the correct version so there's no 15c problem) is reporting about 58c on two different builds. (One in a p180 and one in a Antec solo). Room temp is about 72f and these machines are going into A/C homes so it shouldn'...

You know, I did think about that when I posted. I guess what I mean is I didn't want to buy the 500gig Samsung or 1TB drives when I'm just looking for something to hold 20gigs of data. The 320gig WD drive at around $80 seems like a good choice.

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks for the recommendation! I assume the 320 uses 2 platters with 160 gigs per platter correct? There's a 250gig drive, but I assume that's probably a 2 platter configuration as well with only 125 gigs per platter.

Thanks,
Chris

cheapest, quiet hard drive?

I'm building a couple PCs and I'm looking for really quiet HDD. Samsungs seem to be the one, but it's getting hard to find the T166 series drives and the F1s aren't really available yet. In both cases, the users are currently using only 20gigs of data. I'm buying 2 for each box so I can run them ina...

In any case, I figured it was easy ffor someone getting groceries to check at some point.

Random: Hershey's Cacao Hot Chocolate

I guess this is definitely OFF topic. :) My wife loves this stuff but our local store isn't going to carry it anymore. So, if you happen to find it at your store, let me know. I'd take care of shipping, cost and a little something for your trouble.

Thanks,

Low speed Sycthe ... how bad is the clicking?

I'm look for 6 fans - 3 to replace the case fans in a p180b, 1 for a case fan in a p150 and then 2 CPU fans to go on a Ninja. I really don't want to do any fancy mods because these two machines are for my inlaws and parents. In any case, I'm thinking of just getting 6 of the low speed Sycthe fans. T...

Thanks for the all the help. I'll go with the ninja. Now, what fan to use? Should I go with the Scynthe mid speed fan and undervolt to 7V or something like that? I could also just go with the low speed fan at the full 12V.

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks for the information! I understand the L2/bus differences but I didn't get the VT stuff. This would be completely for personal use and I don't use VMware or any other VT software so I would probably be fine without it.

Is Virtualization Technology important?

Minus a few apps with 5-8% differences, the performance of the E4600 is about the same as the E6600. You get this at much lower watts and price, which is great. The only other difference is Virtualization Technology. What is that exactly? It doesn't seem to effect many benchmarks, but is it importan...

Corsair VX450 vs. EarthWatts 500W PSU

Is there a noticeable difference in the sound of these two units? I guess I'm debating whether to get rebate deal on the Sonata Designer case or get the Solo and the VX450. The price difference is actually about $50 between the two options with the current rebate situation.

Thanks,
Chris
