Re: Silent NAS [4+ bay]
I got lucky to find them at 199€ each on amazon. I really needed space. All HDD are noisy. My workstation only has SSDs and it's wonderful.

Re: Silent NAS [4+ bay]
Thanks Luca and Abula. I have a Syno at work, super easy to setup that's right, but starting 2 bay they get expensive. I will transcode movie from time to time (I have a lot of remux), only one at a time and file sharing. Should I upgrage RAM and CPU? The PSU has been changed, thanks. Iron Wolf 8TB ...

Silent NAS [4+ bay]
Hello guys, I have decided to move all my HDD into a NAS (Windows Server 2016). I currently have: 2 x Seagate st8000vn0022 Iron Wolf 8TB 2 x WD RED 4TB I don't use RAID (I prefer external backup that I do regularly). I was planning to buy a 4 bay Synology but 450€ for an old Celeron it too much. I w...

The last time I opened a thread like that, it was for my current computer, all part are still working great, it's been more than 6 years I think. That's why I decided to ask you again what should I buy. I'm on the budget and I will be selling my previous desktop, so I really prefer to listen to your...

Re: Upgrade my system : GTX 1060 - Fractal Node 304
Ok ok, It's fine. The Gigabyte 6Gb is 100€ cheaper than the MSI 6Gb, that's why i pick this model (0db at idle). Selling my old PSU will be easy, I have the box and everything, the cooler will be hard, I will try. So the final version: CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K COOLER: Be Quiet ! Shadow Rock Slim BK0...

Re: Upgrade my system : GTX 1060 - Fractal Node 304
No! :-) I already have the PSU, I know it's overkill but eh! Even with a 1060 6GB and an overclocked i5 it's too much? I may upgrade the GPU after 3/4 years. Regarding the cooler, it's really that important? I mean a cooler is a cooler, these models are twice more expansive. In the worst case I chan...

Re: Dead silent PC [Fanless GT730 + Core i5-4460] [V2: GTX10
Not in 2D, I can't notice any difference with Autocad 2D between the HD4600, GT730 and GTX1050 I thought so - that's why I didn't buy that card yet. I have a similar setup and HD4600 in 2D is probably on par with all current graphics cards. But this card is a really great deal - as cheap as other o...

I'm eyeing the same card for casual pc gaming. For work - I'm using mostly photoshop and AutoCAD 2D. I know that for 3D it will be a big change - but did you noticed any difference in 2D after the change? Not in 2D, I cant notice any difference with Autocad 2D between the HD4600, GT730 and GTX1050....

A little update!
It's the cheapest semi-passive GTX1050 (120€), I'm using Revit 3D so I needed a better GPU.

cpu cooler Also, I'd lean toward a dual fan gfx card for another $10. Plenty of room for it in the case. If you like Gigabyte, the next step up is the GV-N105TOC-4GD. It's another un-reviewed card, but the product page says it's passive @ idle. You are right about the GPU, the GV-N105TOC-4GD is als...

Ok I get it, something like the Asus Z170M-PLUS then.
Regarding the PSU, the Straight Power 10 400W is not modular, it wont be a problem to fit all cables into the little case?
Thanks in advance.

Should I also upgrade the CPU since Mini ITX 1155 are kind of hard to find new with USB 3.0 ?
I may go with the Intel Core i5-6400.

Hello,
I was saying weak comparing to last generation CPU. Otherwise the CPU is super fast for working use. Office 2013 and Chrome run super fast, same for Windows 7 Pro. It's a really good CPU, totally like it.
Thanks for all your informations.

Re: WD Blue 1TB single-platter WD10EZEX
This HDD is super noisy, such a pain to hear that kind of noise from a computer.
I've just bought a desktop (working station), SSD, fanless psu, 3 fans at 500rpm, no gpu and this HDD is the only component that makes noise.
I will remove it for sure.
