Re: The fastest passively cooled graphics card... Ever
Dear all I just contacted PowerColor for availability and it is supposed to be on the market next week. At least through some german internet retailer called Alternate (http://www.alternate.de). They did not give me any ref price, so I will have to wait. Actually I wanted to buy some Sapphire 6850 b...

Re: cooling a i3-2100 (using the CPU TDP for HSF selection?)
All sandy bridge CPU are very effcient, and their power consumption will be similar at idle, temps should be low also even with stock cooler. If you are in a budget, i would try the stock cooler first, the fan on it is PWN 4pin, so depending on your mobo you might be able to control it via bios. I ...

cooling a i3-2100 (using the CPU TDP for HSF selection?)
Dear all I was planning to buy a Arctic Cooling Alpine 11 Pro (Rev 2) in the assumption that it would be very quiet and also efficient to cool the 65watts TDP of my i3 2100. (Btw, AC claims a cooling capacity of 90Watts and a noise level of 0,4 sone (~20dBA?)) But then I read in one of SPCR forums t...

Re: suspension of HDD on Define R3
it will most likely be a 500Gb WD scorpio black 7200 You should double check this with the link from here.... http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=541234#p541234 But I think it is the 320G that has the single platter and the 500G where it changes to a double platter. Re: suspension of HDD on Define R3
Dear all,
I thank you for your answers and comments.
I finally decided to buy myself one 2.5" and place it in suspension.
it will most likely be a 500Gb WD scorpio black 7200, as a compromise between fastness and quietness, and its availability in my provider shop

Re: suspension of HDD on Define R3
I'd urge to buy Nexus Prominent 9 instead, only 5.25 slots. Lacks dustfilters but that can be fixed by homemade solutions. Also an interesting one. I like a lot the freedom to change at will the whole drive bays. on the other side, I dont like that much its looks, on that the R3 really trumps. Rgds...

Re: suspension of HDD on Define R3
We recently built a system using a white R3... I don't think there would be a great deal of space to suspend 3.5" drives - a quick photo for you: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2357/5714697752_0453dafbc7_o.jpg Not super roomy by any means. I don't have a 2.5" on hand to stick in there and show you,...

Re: suspension of HDD on Define R3
Thanks for your feedback I will cartainly look at it. the more I think about it the more I think it makes sense to do this suspension thing. In my current old system (really old from ~2000 with no silent consideration whatsoever), I can hear more my computer than a Vivaldi concerto, and the speaker ...

Re: silent pc with Define R3 vs silent system with Define Mi
Is there any benefit, for ex. cooling or silencing, when it comes to have more, or less, space in the case (ATX vs mini-ATX case)? 1. Cooling is not so much a factor of size as it is how much air you can move in and out of a case in order to carry out the heat you are generating inside the case. If...

Re: silent pc with Define R3 vs silent system with Define Mi
All other things being equal, a larger case is generally less cramped and allows for better airflow. The Define Mini looks like it won't really be all that small, however, so it may not make much of a difference. The Define Mini also has room for six hard drives, which means there should be plenty ...

suspension of HDD on Define R3
Hi all Has anybody tried suspension of a 3,5" (or a 2,5") in a Define R3? I am considering buying this case, but I dislike the HDD set-up; 1- metal frame forces you to install HDD sideways, which in my opinion seems to disrupt ventilation for intake fans. 2- I have the feeling (from pics) there is l...

silent pc with Define R3 vs silent system with Define Mini
Dear all First thanks to SPCR. This is a GREAT place to learn and share. I would like to ask your all for your opinion on my planned system, plus I also I have some specific questions … 1) Selection of a normal ATX case vs buying a mini ATX case. - Is there any benefit, for ex. cooling or silencing,...
