Re: NUC6i7KYK/NUC skull canyon
Well, I bought one... and I'm sending it back. Fast as hell, small as hell, loud as hell. I set this up in my quiet bedroom with my desktop PC inaudible and all I got was steady fan noise and chatter that rose and fell as background tasks in windows 10 kicked in. I tested it again in my living room ...

Supersilencer 400 giving 16.32 V on the +12 Rail?
MBM5 is claiming that my +12 is +16.32. Is this horribly bad? I dont know a huge deal about voltage rails etc, other than they need to be stable. 16.32 seems like a fairly large deviation. Im running a P4 3.06 (533fsb) with three harddisks, and a Radeon 9600. If that helps. Can someone perhaps post ...

No-Vibes 3 in Lian Li
Hi Everyone, Im considering getting some NV3's and sticking my 2 hdd's in them (60gig WD 2meg cache, 10k 36gig Raptor). They are currently mounted in the little cage at the bottom of my Lian Li PC61. I'm wondering if anyone has mounted the novibes unit in this cage at the bottom-- considering how us...

Hey all, I ended up dancing around the issue, and got an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe. Good ole' asus have gone with passive cooling on the NB, so I dont have to worry about it. However, this board puts the sink pretty close to the AGP slot... (see pic in this review) http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mainboar...

Northbridge cooling, Is Zalman any good?
Hi All, I'm looking at getting a Canterwood board, and damn those things are expensive. The Epox and the ASUS boards have passively cooled northbridges, but they are horrendusly expensive (at least the ones i have found). There is an ABit board which has a reasonable featureset... but it has a damn ...

Ouch! Shipping to Australia from the states or canada, ive found, is horribly expensive. Its in the range of 40 USD, depending on how long I want to wait! I'll have to sit back and have a think about it when i get time. Incidentally, i recently moved my machine from my place, to my girlfriends place...

Thanks again for the replies. Dukla, I have an epox 4g4a+ i845G motherboard. MBM allows me to change almost nothing. If i go to voltages and select +3.3, "Should display board sensor" is "MBM fixed" and i cant change it. "Voltage configuration" i can change between W83627HF Standard 1,2,3 and 4. The...

And i found the bastard! Its the whiney little thing on my Radeon. Its a real screamer, which sags when i do any...

Dukla2000, Thanks for the reply, very informative! Here are my results. (i tried the paintbrush test-- not the fan-stop test yet (i only just woke up and dont wanna rip my machine apart till i'm more lucid)) Okay, at idle, with MBM 1sec delay, my +12 is flicking between 12.10, and 12.04. ie, it will...

dukla, smartie, thanks for the replies. I must confes that i really know nothing about these +12, -12, etc etc voltages in my machine. I have convieniently ignored them and now it seems that some knowledge in that area would be useful. Could anyone briefly give me the low-down on these? Anyway! I ru...

What is this noise!!!
Hi All, I have a P4 3.06 with a brand new Zalman CNPS7000Cu, an enermax 450W PSU (2 fan version), noisy-ass HDD's and a Radeon 9000 PRO (with a fan). Whenever i start to put my machine under load, and i mean IMMEDIATELY, i get a change in the tone of my system. It seems that whenever something cpu i...

Well, i took the plunge and got a 7000Cu. The dealer here in Australia said that they out-sell the AlCu 5 to 1, and that they werent even bothering to get the AlCu in. (this is the excellent www.pccasegear.com - they are aussies). Anyway, i got it and installed it on my 3.06, after panicking when th...

pcweltz; what is a 'motherboard heatsink bracket'? Im interested in getting this zalman, but im not sure about whether the Cu, or the AlCu... Im scared about board warping, but what is your solution, and will it work? Is the zalman retention mechanism not very good? I do move my machine a bit, so i'...
