Re: advice on fanless 4k capable system plan please
quest_for_silence's chart shows that between pcie x16 and pcie x4 crossfire the difference is like 5%. I can live with that. I'm holding off on 4k because its now obsolete! 5k monitors are now coming or already here, i forget which. My main problem right now is that i cant find a crossfire bridge lo...

Re: Fanless Gaming Desktop (Full HD)
Please have a look at my build thread. You cant passively cool a gpu but with an after market cooler like the one i use the fans can only be heard if i pull off a cover and stick my ear in the case. If you do not game with your ear in the case then an aftermarket gpu cooler will satisfy your silence...

Oh Noes, This should be in general gallery! Hopefully Steve will move it. Show it off properly with some pics if you can. I have feedback but I'll wait for pics and a thread move.

Re: A new card for the quiet gamer (ASUS R9 285 Strix)
Impressive card, how much does it cost? For now there's no reason for me to upgrade from my 280x with an artic accelero extreme performance or noise wise. However this could be an excellent option for new builders who are looking for an out of the box quiet and powerful card. Here it is in action ht...

Re: Mitigating against dangers of huge CPU coolers
You could use a horizontal case like the Coolermaster HAF XB EVO, which I bought partly to avoid this problem of having heavy heatsinks and graphic cards hanging off my motherboard http://www.coolermaster.com/case/lan-box-haf-series/haf-xb-evo/ I also have this case and its solved all my case frust...

Re: advice on fanless 4k capable system plan please
Very informative and spot on post bbalex. I will pull the trigger on a 28 inch 4k monitor when an IPS panel @120hz is available but as you say it seems it may not exist for a few years. If that is the case then maybe a 4k 28 inch TN panel will have to do. Now that leads me to maybe saying forget 4K ...

NoFan all the way! RAH RAH RAH!! I'm running the CR-95C on a 4790k. The new version is a bit smaller, def check that one out too. If you want to use the CR-95C then you will have to plan your build around it, worth it tho.

oooh i see you have the ax760. I have the ax760i and i have an issue with it clicking every ten seconds which is normal function. See here http://www.sweclockers.com/forum/127-corsair/1260218-ax760i-tick-sound/ I really like the ax series but it seems the digital's are not ready for primetime. Does ...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 build
Excellent! My results were the same between PWM and 7v, about 8%. Not that much as you say but it did make a nice difference in my system. Good to see similarities between different cards with Acceleros's, Thanks!

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 build
ok i see now there are two different Accelero's being tested. I am wondering specifically if you can get the IV to work with the 780's onboard PWM fan control not FanExpert. I am very curious about if this will work or not as it would be the easiest "no setup needed" option.

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 build
Shame you cant get the 780 to smoothly control the Accelero's fans. I would take another look at it and see if you can fix the surging. 7v is ok but PWM control is silence heaven! If you had a vented mesh top case you could switch to a NoFan cpu cooler and eliminate 5 fans! That could be a problem b...

Re: advice on fanless 4k capable system plan please
I like your build plans. As far as 4k is concerned I am also looking to go this route. Any "newer" video card can handle 4k but to push 4k at ultra settings it will take a SLI/crossfired setup. To be safe i'd recommend AT LEAST a 280x, I think a 290x would be much better but i cant say from first ha...

Fellas! Fellas!! Fellaaaaaaas!!! My last post got me thinking about why i wasnt using the 280x's onboard pwm controller. There was a reason at the time i was setting it all up but i forget now. I revisited the issue and was able to get the fans controlled by the card. WOW what a difference! The fans...

Nice temps too. What's the dust situation? Thx frenchie, The open case pic is the dust situation after 3 months. 5 minutes + some compressed air = brand new again. No need to take anything apart anymore. That rig isn't 0 db at idle. Even the quietest PSUs emit 10db noise. Hello ohhgourami. Thanks f...

Re: 0 db gaming rig achieved
The title is misleading! Edited title to clarify. Thanks for the suggestions Tzeb but i have no interest in adding any case fans. Agreed, my GPU and CPU temps are not as good as they could be. I have by design sacrificed temps for beautiful graphics, amazingly fast system speeds, and heavenly silen...

have you tested Prime95 to see if can still cool the 2600K passively? Hi Abula Since you asked i have tested for you. http://s21.postimg.org/wbia6ijhf/prime95temps.jpg Indeed the CR-95C can handle Prime95 on "Max Heat". If you are running sustained CPU loads of 100% you will need a case cooling sol...

what are the temps? Here are my temps under typical gaming load. http://s14.postimg.org/un4e23db1/temps1.jpg I do not want to use the integrated HD3000 graphics because it is a very poor graphics system. The 7970 scores a 5,088 on passmark while the integrated HD3000 scores a measly 305. I also wan...

My silent desktop pc and gaming rig (4790k + 280x)
Hey guys, ive been here for references and opinions before and i wanted to give something back. Finished off my 0db rig about 6 months ago and have been very happy. key components i7-2600k, its a bit outdated but still a top tier processor. CR-95C (black pearl) the copper one will oxidize over time....
