Something like a Celeron J1800/1900/1037U looks like it would be great on power consumption and some of the boards are even fanless. Single threaded performance of the J1900 is on par with your P4. Of course, for multithreaded apps, it's 3x faster. 10W vs 80W :D It kinds of seems like a better Atom.

Thank for the reply. I'm most concerned with the noise/power consumption. I didn't think about if the Intel GMA3100 video had newer codec acceleration. I'll have to read up on on the sandy bridge stuff and see if I can score something cheap.
