Re: Megahalems Replacement Fan

So the glidestream came in today and I decided to remount the megahalems since it's been a while since I put on the original Thermal Paste. To my surprise I mounted it incredibly poorly last time around with too much thermal compound that was unevenly spread, this time I must've done it right as I d...

Re: Megahalems Replacement Fan

I took a look at the TY-147A and it looks like it has 120mm mounting so I might be able to use the stock 120mm clips to mount it possibly? TY-147A seems the more sensible choice (140mm vs. 120mm) over the Glidestream but it is a bit more expensive and mounting might be an issue. Honestly i dont hav...

Re: Megahalems Replacement Fan

Looks like the Noise adapter is out of the question then because the M12-P is 2.04 Watts. Re: Megahalems Replacement Fan

what motherboard are you using? The fan should drop a little lower, the problem is it starts at 0% pwm. I have the GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5, and yeah lowest RPM is 1077rpm at 0% PWM As an alternative, megahalems can fit 140mm fans with 120mm frame, but not with the factory clips, they sell additional cli...

Megahalems Replacement Fan

Greetings, SCPR community. Was hoping to get some assistance in selecting a replacement fan for my megahalems. I currently have a Noiseblocker M12-P on it, which you can imagine at 1000 rpm minimum is quite noticeable. My only criteria are that it's under $15 or under and that the performance is goo...

Re: Need Help Silencing Rig

Alright well I tried tweaking the voltage and that wasn't especially successful, as I was only able to lower it down to 1.32V (maybe I lost the silicone lottery or it's because of HT?) I did turn down the case fans down to low and now it's basically silent save for the noiseblocker so I'm really tem...

Re: Need Help Silencing Rig

Discussing the graphics card's fan settings: It's clear that 10% fan speed isn't really sufficient to cool it, even at idle. I assume it's effectively inaudible at that speed, and increasing the base fan speed to 20% should do wonders in terms of cooling without generating too much noise. From ther...

Re: Need Help Silencing Rig

I'm using the built-in fan controller on the case on the medium setting (on low it is almost completely inaudible but I imagine has no airflow). I'm not sure what the voltage is for that setting but I reckon it's 7.5V maybe? -As far as the noiseblocker it's not terrible at 1050rpm and only really pr...

Re: Need Help Silencing Rig

- How are you managing the case and cpu cooler fans? BIOS? Windows s/w? I'm using MSI Afterburner and Gigabyte's System Information Viewer (Should I be using BIOS instead?) - what kind of profiles do you have set up? / what are your idle and typical load fan speeds? Here is a picture of both the CP...

Need Help Silencing Rig

Hi, Decided to finally join the community after reading a bunch of reviews in my quest to silence my pc. Was hoping that I could get some help in silencing my PC, this is my current build I use at 1440p. It's mostly for gaming but I run the 6700k for occasional cpu heavy tasks. Case: Fractal Node 80...
