While I don't have that specific psu you are talking about, I do have a mini-itx pc that uses this 60w psu: http://www.mini-box.com/pw-60.htm It's pretty quiet. Although, I should mention that this first one I bought was defective and I had to exchange it. But the working one I now have only makes a...

I'm having similar troubles powering down my Barracuda V 60GB drive on Windows 2000 Server. I have Windows XP Pro on my laptop and my hard drives always power down after they aren't accessed for 5 minutes. But on my Windows 2000 machine, even though I set the power settings to do the exact same thin...

Absorbing dying teams into the SPCR effort?
So.... would asking dying teams to join the SPCR effort be considered bad form? Or would you say that all's fair in love, war, and folding? Take a look at team TechIMO . They've got 67 total members, but only 7 currently active. Or how about team vcats ? They only have 1 active member! (Well, the st...

[Edit: I figured answer to this question. ] Good luck with the folding farm Zhentar. I too was thinking about setting up a folding farm. I had this plan about buying all these components off of ebay, maybe enough to build 5 nodes, and then immediately turning around and selling them again as ...

This is more of an annoyance rather than a nomination, but why doesn't Hush Technologies put up sources for all those quotes they have on their home page? Usually, if a company uses quotes like that to sell its product, the company also gives some sort of indication of where the quotes came from. It...

Here's someone who's found some fanless power supplies. http://www.seanm.ca/eden/psu.html Since my lightweight server is only going to have one client (me) and will only need enough power to run the motherboard, a 3.5" hard drive, and the RAM, I decided to go with a 60w external brick-type power sup...

Power supply fans that only runs when needed
I'm building a small mini-itx server for my apartment and since I plan on running this server 24/7 I'd like to know what power supplies are available that have fans that only operate when needed. This is sort of similar to how the fans in my laptop work. They are off most of the time, but start up e...
