True, true and true. For reference (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article272-page1.html): "I've experimented lots with 120mm intake fans and have come to the conclusion that they are almost always overkill. The front intake fan rarely aids much in actual cooling, and is mostly useful for cooling the...

92mm vs 120mm

Hoy. Long time no post. :) Its system building time and it seems like the flavour of case is Antec SOLO these days. Seems fine although I initially had the idea of only 120mm fans in the case this time. Then I do remember ole MikeC, years ago, musing about the ideal case should have 92 mm fans for m...

Ah. Good answers! Almost forgot how good this forum is. :) What kind of speaker system do you have for you computer? Right now I use almost only headphones. I forgot to mention that the speaker system is also under planning. I suppose its a joint decision with the sound of the system. I'll be lookin...

Oh wello. Long time no posto. Guess its system building time again. As far as I've seen the current flavours of systems now roughly: AMD socket 939 processor Crossfire chipset on undervoltable mobo DDR 400 Scythe cooler Antec P150 or P180 or some other with 120mm in/out-take. Well.. the discussion in that thread on StorageReview brings up a point that could make 7200.9 interesting. There will be 1 platter variants (160 and 80 Gb). All 7200.8 models had at least 2 platters. Would make up for the disappointment I had when the 100Gb/platter HDs started showing up but all we...

Cases with bottom PSU list

Hey.

Just wonderng if there is any general interest in cases with the PSU located in the bottom. I would call it BTX style layout with usage of an ATX motherboard. Recently I've seen:

Arctic Cooling Silentium T2
Antec P180

Are there more that are out there or about to come out?

Do you have any problem with the atypical noise sources, such as breathing and heartbeat? It sounds like a joke, but I've read that internal body noises tend to be amplified by canal earphones. Hehe. Yes.. if one use earplugs in a quiet room one can hear that. Blood rushing/pumping or something. Th...

We might be ahead. But the development is still going on even if the increments are smaller. :) I agree with the pointlessness of some extra Ghz for general use. LCD might be an option. But they are not perfectly quiet either. In the process of investigating which and why they make noise.

It all depends how much you use your brain. Noise generally tires the brain because it has to filter out the noise around you. If you dont use your brain well then you wont feel the effect of tiredness in a noisy environment. :)

And that concludes todays whiff of elitism.

Serial connecting fans and voltage

Its quite possible to put two fans in serie and if they have the same rating they will halve the voltage between them. If you use 12V you'll get 6V on each fan, that is. I have tried it experimentally and it seems to work. Now I wonder if it could cause some problems to keep this as a setup in the m...
