I really feel that you may of gotten a bad sample. I got my LL's from pcsilent.de and they are most certainly smooth and not near 25 dba loud. I have one running at around 7v on my Ninja and it's not audible outside the case. I tested the Papst quickly by placing it on the front vent hole of the P1...

Well, I'm not really sure mounting/unmounting the rubber gromets several times would be a good idea. I'd prefer not to have to do that... All I can say is that there is no difference between holding the fan in my hand and letting it lay on the carpet, if you're concerned about potential vibrations. ...

Hi. Just to add my opinion... I bought the following 120mm fans a few days ago : Ebm-Papst 4412 F/2GLL Akasa DFB122512L NoiseBlocker UltraSilentFan SX2 Globe S1202512L-3M Textorm S1202512L-3M I have a P180, so I can compare with the Antec TriCool, which I use on the medium setting, but they are fed ...

Well, your fans are 0.6W, and you should not exceed 7W on each channel. So, no more than 11 fans on each channel... I guess you will never come close to the limits. That's what I thought, but it looked too good, so I was a bit cautious :P I'm going to try and I'll post the results if it doesn't wor...

two fans on each channel on the ZM-MFC1 controller ?
I just want to be sure : can I mount two Papst8412NGL (or similar) on each channel on the ZM-MFC1 ? Any risk ?

Antec TruePower : how many fans on the Fan Only connectors ?
In the user manual, Antec states that one should not connect more than three fans to the two Fan Only connectors in any combination (i.e. 3+0 or 2+1).
But surely this number doesn't come from nowhere, so I'm wondering how many fans one can really connect, depending on the power they draw. Any idea ?

The case is cut so that the airflow is not blocked. I don't even use fan guards at all ! You're right about isolating the fans from the case. At first, I used the fan brackets that came with the Antec SX830, but the noise was intolerable, so I cut the case, removed the brackets and attached the fans...

Yeah, you're right about us looking crazy. Undervolting fans and CPUs instead of overclocking, benchmarking keyboards, HDDs and even monitors on their noise instead of performance sure seems counter-intuitive. :D The thing I said about the whine may be misleading. It's hard to explain exactly, somet...

I bought a 120GB Hitachi 7k250 8MB cache two weeks ago, and here are the results : With AAM activated, the seeks are more silent than my BarracudaIV 60GB with AAM on. Without AAM activated, the seeks are noiser than the Barracuda with AAM, but quieter than the Barracuda without AAM. Obviously, it's ...

Mormakil, I wrote that it answered my question because "DF1208BA 80x25 mm :..." means that the fan is 25mm thick, though that may not have been very precise... Also, you're right about dBs, there should be a log somewhere in the calculation  And since these are adjusted decibels, I guess it's ...

I've just seen that the Antec PSU had been reviewed at SPCR, and the specifications of the fans are almost the same as I had found earlier : DF1208BA 80x25 mm : CFM=39, dBA@1m=34, RPM=2900, current=0.2A DF1209BA 92x25 mm : CFM =57.1, dBA@1m=35.8, RPM=3000, current=0.25A Also, that answers my questio...

The exhaust fan from my TP550 runs at 1700 RPM (with a case temp of 25°C !) so should I conclude that it makes a noise of (1700*34)/2900=20dBA and has a CFM of (1700*41)/2900=24 , or is it not linear ? Luminous, could you measure the depth of the Antec exhaust fan ? If that's too much hassle, could ...

I strongly suggest you try to mod the Antec before the Chieftec. Why ? If it works, I may do it on my Antec, too 8) More seriously, there's an article about the Antec TP380 at http://www.materiel.be/alims/8quietpsu/ant380w.php . Here's a rough translation of the interesting part : By looking at the ...

Things I hate most : CRT flicker (anything under 75 Hz is painful, 85 is OK, 95+ is good) neon flicker (schools love them) buzzing noises (cheap dimmers do that) whistling noises (TV, electronics) ticking (can't bear analogue watches) Regarding hearing supermen, a friend of mine insists he is able t...
