with 8 HDD's, most good PSU's on the list will be silent.

Re: SpeedFan with Asrock Z68 Extreme
Thank you. This worked.
I have to wonder why on earth it doesn't have a tick box in Speedfan to start up with windows like all other software of this nature does, but at least there is a workaround

does anyone know how to get speedfan to start with windows?
I've had no luck so far, it utterly ruins it!

Re: I give you the ANTEC SOLO II
Might get one of those cables - thanks. Did the mod on my PSU. Put a Gentle Typhoon 1450rpm in place of the ADDA 2100rpm fan. I can finally say that with this mod and the case fans now controlled with speedfan at around 700rpm, the PC is finally down where I've always wanted it to be. It's genuinely...

Re: I give you the ANTEC SOLO II
Discovered with a few tips found in another thread here that my board has two fan headers with support for PWM. I really need three though, but it's better than nothing. Also discovered that by far, the M12 is the one causing the excess noise. I can't justify £120 for a new one, so was wondering if ...

Re: I give you the ANTEC SOLO II
I'm curious now to know what more i could attempt with my system to get the noise down. Any tips on how to best cut the noise from those protruding front/back fans for better results? Start by slowing the fans down further, perhaps using a mobo fan controller -- if it has one. Remove the front fan ...

Re: I give you the ANTEC SOLO II
I grabbed an R3 several days ago. I'm very happy with the build quality and performance. My only issue was that the HDD cage should come in two parts and be removable/modular with screws. This is because it has limited space for very long GPUs. Currently, there isn't one that won't fit, but the Arct...

Re: I give you the ANTEC SOLO II
difficult to decide... I have a Lian LI A05-NB, which uses very thin aluminium, so i know the R3 or Solo II will beat it in noise levels, but it's still very hard to choose. I'm leaning towards the R3, but i don't know... Anyone want to convince me the Solo II is wroth going for? Noise is key, but i...

Seasonic M12 - remove the 60mm fan?
Just wondering if i could just cut the 60mm fan off and remove this fan: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article676-page4.html <-- details are in the review.
It never spins up really and i don't think it's neccesary.
It's bugging me to have it there! Any concerns about doing this?

140mm fan choices, horizontally mounted
What are the best choices available when it comes to 140mm fans?
My little Lian Li A05NB gets too hot, so I'm going to order the top panel with 140mm fan opening, but don't know which fan to go for. The 120mm fans in the case will probably be Nexus real silent case fans.
thanks!

those iwakis wouldn't have been quiet enough for most people who visit a forum called silentpcreview  . They are high quality and quiet for what they can do but i don't think they will compete with a little eheim 1048 for noise so the fact that you didn't win that auction may bea blessing in di...

Watercooling is of course for people who want to sqeeze the most from there system without much noise. You must go for watercooling and run most of it outside the case. It's the only option really, believe me, i know. I've spent a lot of money on going the air cooling route and you'll be dissapointed, on a performance rig, that is. Your best option is to go for an eheim 1250 running outside your case...

Prommies & Vapochill?
Hi, I like the idea of finding a water cooled setup after failing in my attempt to setup the ultimate air cooling/low noise setup with decent temps  Then it dawned on me, how noisy are the two mainstream phase change units? - the Prometia Mach II and the Vapochill PE/XE? Vapochill do a "barebon...
