Since Oblivion has been mentioned quite a bit in this thread, this is a nice comprehensive benchmark: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2746 I have a 7600GT atm and it's running nice and cool, and has decent performance in Oblivion (1024x768, mediumish settings, HDR enabled). Anything hi...

Here's a gem that may be of interest: attaching a tube from the water inlet (inside the reserator) to bring the warm water to the top does work a 3 ceclius miracle when nothing else has changed, and is not any more noisy Hehe, that's pretty funny ;) That was actually the first thing I thought about...

I am also very interested in the noise level of these drives. Thinking about buying one of them, matrox claims a 2.5bel idle noise and that sounds quite good. But i have actually seen some conflicting measurements. An Extremetech review placed it ~2dB higher than the IBM 180GXP and about equal with ...

I have just built one of these: http://www.cpemma.co.uk/ef.html
Works very well and is cheap. Since i'm only going to use it with panaflo fans (2-3), i think a heatsink on the PNP-transistor would be overkill.

1) Does "articles" tell you enough about what that section is about? yep, but maybe a some small explanation of what the section is about on the "article page" would be appropriate. 2) Would brief summaries in the listing pages for Articles or Reviews or Mods & Projects help you? that would be nice...

It's not rocket science, pretty simple stuff (as most of all this is, really). Actually if we should believe John Carmack, even actual rocket science "isn't rocket science" :D Pretty intresting stuff: http://www.armadilloaerospace.com/n.x/Armadillo/Home (Totally unrelated but I immediately associat...

Cuda V quieter than the Cuda IV!
Haven't seen that anyone has posted this already, so here I go: SR has reviewed the Cuda V, check this out: http://www.storagereview.com/articles/200210/20021014ST3120023A_6.html The Cuda V is actually 3dBA quieter than the Cuda IV! (and that's the ATA100 version, hope the SATA version will be as qu...

I have a few more people who are interested, so if it's ok with you guys I'll order 40 fans soon. 10 fans (or would you rather want 8?) for Choy 4 fans for Oz is that right? As soon as I get your confirmations I'll order. Choy> I don't think they ship by ground mail, else I think she would have give...

Ok, here is a deal for you swedes. I mailed bgmicro and asked about shipping costs for 20 and 30 fans to sweden. Here is the reply: "Hi, I won't know the exact amount until the order is actually packed, but I can come pretty close. 20 fans would be about 32.00 for airmail, or 42.00 for express. 30 f...

Hehe, now that was a bit dissapointing... :o At least, I hope that they are using a good quality thermal interface material between the core and the heatspreader. :) btw. This should mean that you could achieve better cooling if you removed the heatspreader from the P4, right? Maybe that's a project...

Is Panaflo even available in europe?
I sure envy you americans, with access to quiet cheap fans (panaflo fans for 3$, right?). I live in Sweden and I haven't seen Panaflos available anywhere. If I want a quiet fan I have to buy a Papst, which will cost me 17-18$, approx converted from swedish kronor. And thats the best price I can find...

I have also read the same review that FraZor pasted a link to (digitlife) and after that I recently bought a Sony DDU1621. I can say that the drive hasn't disappointed me at all to this point. It is very quiet (it would probably be inaudible in a normal pc-rig, in my (silent) computer it is audible ...
