Seasonic Platinum 860, different versions?
I was browsing the Seasonic USA site, and noticed that the 860 Platinum is listed in two places. As far as I can see there are two model numbers: SS-860XP Platinum Series SS-860XP2 Platinum Series XP2 The XP2 is part of a newer series with both the 660 and 760? I also noticed that those have a Nvidi...

Re: Heatsink recommendation for a low power xeon?
I went for a Coolermaster Hyper 212 instead, and also ordered a couple of Scythe Slip Stream PWM (1300 rpm) fans. I believe the cooler is good enough, and if I do not like the fan on it, I can just exchange it with a fan I know the properties of

Heatsink recommendation for a low power xeon?
I would appreciate a heatsink recommendation for a low power xeon. The setup is a Supermicro X9SCM-F motherboard with an E3-1260L xeon. The cooling requirement is not huge, but my case is an Antec Solo, so I believe a heatsink without too many clearance issues would be good. My last setup in the sam...

Reading in the forums it seems that both F3 and F2 EcoGreen are good candidates. Right now the F3 seems more tempting, because of 7200rpm. However, quite probably the F2 has better properties when it comes to a noise and vibration? And probably the F2 has good platter density so the lower access tim...

Replacing Samsung T166 500GB drives
I got three drives in my file server from Samsung. Those are of T166 series: HD501LJ, 500GB each. I even think they might have Nidec motors. I am very satisfied with both the lack of vibrations and quietness. Are there any new Samsung drives with Nidec motors available? I am looking for drives of at...

Thermalright axp-140 in Antec P183 case?
Does anyone know if the Thermalright AXP-140 cooler fits in an Antec P183 case? I will probably use it to cool a i7 920 cpu in combination with a X58 motherboard. Probably installed with a 12cm fan. Thermalright states that it does not fit in cases where the psu is placed at the bottom: http://www.t...

Thanks for the information about the 128SE, the mounting system does not look so impressive afterall. Anyway, I guess it is better to go with either the tried and tested XP-120: I already sent e-mails to some of the shops listed here :) If it does not work out, I am going to take the plunge and prob...

Is there any reason for wanting the XP-120 instead of the SI-128SE? Good point. I didn't consider the SI-128SE either, because it is also not in stock where I live. But since I am going to order one of those from abroad anway, probably from the store aztec mentioned, maybe it is better to go for th...

Where to buy Thermalright XP-120?
I am wondering where I can find this cooler. I do have a LGA775 adapter kit, just need the heatsink. It has been my favourite for the last years. It is low weight, low height and cools very well. I like to avoid a huge cantilever effect that bends my motherboard, so even if some of the more extreme ...

I have Nexus 12cm fan attached to the Ninja which blows through it. Opposite to it, it the rear, I have 12cm Papst fan running at quite low speed, I would guess 1200 - 1500 rpm. Also a Seasonic S12 PSU. In front a have a pretty silent 92mm Nexus fan and 3 suspended Samsung drives. The Ninja's heatpi...

Cool running 250GB with least possible vibration
I need to find a replacement for my Samsung Spinpoint 160GB drive. I think it's a P80, it's model number is SP1614C. The damn thing vibrates far too much and makes my case generate odd woowoo-noise. Can't describe it, I just can't stand it. It's mounted with rubber grommets in an Antec SLK3000B. I h...

Guess what, another Phantom just died in my arms. This is a replacement unit for a Phantom I bought and sent back to Antec Europe (The Netherlands). This time it didn't even survive 24 hours. Later this evening I came home and discovered that my computer didn't make any sound. Had to switch off the ...

I will be sending my unit for RMA tomorrow. To summarize, I bought my unit around March this year. here's a tip: take a small screwdriver and fish around the inside of the psu. when you successfully dislodge a wire or two, bring it back to the store. this ensures it being "DOA". of course that's ny style. shrugs. Hehe, good idea ;) Well, I've now had my system up and running with a 340W C...

The PSU is only mild to the touch, wouldn't say it's even hot. Yeah, I'm actually still hoping for that the 6600gt is the culprit but: Last night I used another cable from the PSU and even double checked that the connector on the card received voltage from the PSU. I measured the contact points on t...

I'm going to try to connect the 6600gt on it's own 12V cable. I just read the review once more, and it says that 12V1 should be good for 18A. Does anyone one know which cable goes to the 12v1 rail? I just disconnected a cable with 2 12v connectors (one of the molex is dual with a short floppy cable).

Antec phantom 350 problem?
I currently have a quite silent system, but lately I've been experiencing random shut downs for no apparent reason.
