IMHO harddisk temps are all one has to worry about, if the system's stable, that is.

Edit: And quiet, as well. And powerful. um. Yeah.

Both of my Soltek NV400-64 mainboards, with AMD socket A processors, have a faint whine when the CPU idles. This is not a problem at all, though, because I'm folding all the time anyhow.

haven't seen this before. Looks cool, (no pun etc.) would be great for a non-Prescott PC with a 120 mm PSU. One could mount it facing the 120 mm fan, and get rid of the heat quickly.

hm, ok. Thanks for your replies. It's unlikely we'll ever see a user-friendly voltage option for GPUs. But one can hope.

Your CPU should be fine. Your system temp is not so good for your HDs, though. Can you get a reading on those?

Interesting, and most likely expensive. Looks like it takes an 80mm. Well, it makes sense for Thermalright to move into VGA cooling, since overcockers, who are probably the target audience for Thermalright, don't just settle for a CPU gain.

yup, that's a pretty bad case of the noise. I'd start with the PSU, get a 120mm Fortron, good value for the money. Then put a Zalman 7000 AlCu on the CPU, and turn it down to 5V. And perhaps see if the WD harddisk can be put on foam.

Fan imbalance causes clicking?

I was hoping some of you geeks out there :D could help me explain this. I have noticed two of my fans, mounted horizontally, sometimes click when turned on. If I stop them with my finger, then spin them up again, the clicking is gone. Whyyyy? Is the spin angled? Is there a, I dunno, fluid imbalance ...

In response to your questions: I have no intake fans, and my CPU has a load temp of 59 degrees Celsius, on-die sensor. I don't overclock, so I've simply turned down the fan (a Panaflo L1A on a Thermaltake Silent Boost) on my CPU heatsink to the point where I've hit a temp I'm still comfortable with....

About the 80 mm vs 120 mm: I have a Chieftec with an 80mm fan that I replaced with a Panaflo L1A, running it at about 7v on a fanmate. In another machine I have an Aopen FSP350-60PN (which is, supposedly, the exact same as a Fortron), which uses a 120mm fan, and the Aopen beats the Panaflo-mod by se...

Tom's report the Sapphire Toxic, which is an X800 Pro or XT, does NOT have a speed switch. Instead, it is thermally controlled. I believe the Toxic uses the new revision. I don't think this is good news, since we of course want it silent all the time, but maybe it's just the Sapphire edition.
