One thing missing from this case -- an internal speaker!
I think that maybe my Asus P4PE with built-in audio may be smart enough to use the external speakers though. Do most cases these days not come with speakers?

Good luck Dave! I just ordered all the components to build my new computer with. Didn't get any "silencing" products yet. I'll wait and see how it goes. It's a good thing I waited too, because I don't think the Zalman ZM80A-HP will work with my new Asus P4PE board. Looks like the DIMM slots are in t...

Like Ralf, want to be like Ralf.... You've got the display I want too! Is that a Dell 1900FP? I've got my heart set on the Samsung 191T and recently figured out that the Dell 1900FP is the same thing OEM'd. This is according to newsgroup postings I've seen on the subject. Several people have mention...

Well, I just voted in my own poll, chose the Antec case. I voted with my cash yesterday and ordered it. Ralf - you've got black drives pictured in the Antec, right? I think they look fine. Your picture of the Coolermaster is leading me to post-purchase doubt. My CPU sits to my right so the Coolermas...

I've installed the fan in question in my power supply. It is quieter than the old fan. But, the old fan was dying and made horrible noises when warming up. This is my first fan replacement/noise abatement effort. So there is nothing I can compare it to. Somebody is selling the Panaflos for about $3-...

So much for not being a fanboy Ralf :D You're the one who turned me on to this case, and it's looking like the one I'll end up buying. Would you order black CD's and floppy drives for this? Yeah, I know they'll be covered, but you wouldn't be the first to call me anal. :o The slot I was referring to...

You can get a Radeon 9000 PCI card with DVI output for $99 at newegg. Or, a 7500 for $77. I ran this search at newegg.com , to find them. The trick was asking for PCI and DVI as second output. The cards are ATI chips made by Powercolor. I'm in the same boat as you and wanted to build my new system t...

ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon 9700 with Zalman ZM80A-HP
Anyone have any information about using the Zalman heat pipe ZM80A-HP on an ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon 9700?
I believe I've seen where it works fine on a regular Radeon 9700 Pro. But the All-in-Wonder has the TV tuner near the front of the card. Don't know how it'd fit.

Case decision: Antec, Globalwin or other?
Help me decide on a case please. Getting ready to build a new computer with silence (and performance) in mind. I'm having trouble deciding on which case to get. I want: - high quality, solid, sturdy case - good looks, probably black - (4) external 5.25" drive bays - ease of access (easy pop off door...

Wouldn't it make more sense to go the watercooling route if your getting that complicated No. Water cooling, in my mind, is much more complicated. And expensive. This method would involve some inexpensive ducting material, a fan and a power source. Water cooling would require new water blocks, tubi...

Dell Dimension 4550 - how good are they?
After I totalled up all the money I'm about to spend for a new PC build I figured why not just go ahead and get a Dell. I can buy the Dell machine for the same, actually less, money as my built-it-myself. My build it myself project includes a Globalwin YCC-61F1-B case, Asus P4PE, 2.4 GHz P4, 512 Mb ...

How about one *really* large external fan and some ducting?
It seems that all these small fans are a problem as far as noise goes. So, how about replacing them with one large external fan? The idea would be to put a duct on each item -- the graphics card, CPU, power supply. Each of these ducts would be routed to the outside of the case. At the end of the mas...

How do you monitor drive temperatures
Everyone talks freely about the different temps that their hard drives run at. How do you measure the hard drive temperature? Do new-ish drives have some kind of sensor and firmware built in? Or, do you need to physically place sensors on the drive? And, I'm guessing you need some kind of program li...

Cuda V's SATA versions readily available now?
Serial ATA looks like the way to go now (or at least the way I want to go for my next system). A quick search a few days back did not turn up many (any) of these drives readily available for sale.
Anyone know if the SATA version Cuda V's are readily available?

Cuda V's work in RAID 0 now?
Over the summer I bought a pair of Cuda IV's to go with my Abit BD7II RAID mobo. Once it all arrived I learned that in RAID 0 (two drives striped for performance -- correct me if I'm wrong) those two drives would be slower than if I had run them straight up. Seagate confirmed this. Said there was a ...

I hadn't thought of wiring it that way. I was planning that it won't fit inside the power supply. That would be a benef...
