I used to have a Zalman vf700 and didn't like that it dumped the heat into the case. I tried the Ati silencer 5 and decided to stay with it on my ATI 850xt. I have the fan plugged into my video card and control the speed with ATI-tool. I have it set so that the fan runs at 2% when I'm doing everyda...

Are you being overcautious with the temperatures perhaps?
Haha perhaps.
Maybe I should also mention that I am overclocking.

I think the NCU-2005 could be better a better choice if using a low speed fan on the heatsink because the fins are spaced farther apart allowing better airflow through the heatsink. I have the Ninja right now in a P180 and am having a bit of difficulty getting good air flow to flow through the heats...

Is it a bad idea?

I just thought to myself that hot air rises so any hot air trapped in the lower chamber would get sucked out by the fan.

Nice setup! Did you test temps with and without the cardboard? Wondering how much of a difference that basic mod/duct makes. So what's the loudest thing in the system, HDDs or that AC Silencer? I have not yet tested with and without the cardboard yet but will be sometime later today. I would assume...

I used to be an Arctic Cooling fan, until my Silencer NV5's fan started to growl. So I replaced it, and 3 months later, the same thing happened. Replaced again, and tried to contact AC for warranty support... can't be reached by email or phone. To make a long story short, I now use Zalman's VF700-C...

But other then the crappy support and the fan failing it would be a better option right? I'm trying to decide between the two for my X850XT. I've had the ATI Silencer 2 rev2 and there was no clicking for the time I had it. But if the VF700-alcu proves to be the better choice overall (in terms of coo...

Just wondering why everyone is recommending the Zalman VF700-alcu?
It does cool effectively but wouldn't the AC ATI Silencer 5 be a better choice since it ports out the hot air inside the case?

FWIW, I'd at least go with a passive chipset heatsink. Inevitably, they almost all develop a rather annoying buzzing noise. Plus, the nForce4 chipset really doesn't get too hot, IMHO. Definitely not nearly as bad as the old nForce2's, and even those didn't get horribly hot. For the CPU heatsink, I'...

Yup you were right Yggdrasill! :P
I had the wrong thumbscrew on there. I managed to wedge in the end of a pair of cotton pliers where the thumbscrew was and got the panel off.
Didn't break any clips either. :D

Did you use a big thumbscrew on the lower drive cage? There is a special small thumbscrew for the lower drive cage, because if you use the big thumbscrews there, one of the clips will jam against the thumbscrew. If that's it, I don't know of a good solution apart from gently pulling the door off, y...

Need HELP! Can't get P180 Side Panel Off!

For some reason the left side panel won't come off! I've been going at it for at least 5 minutes and it won't budge. The top half will come off but something is holding the bottom half of it. I took off the right side panel to look inside and I can't see anything that could hinder it. And yes the th...

I think the Papst 4412 fans would best fit your needs as they are one of the best in a restrictive setup (especially your rad).

500W is the number they feel it can deliver simultaenously under the conditions specified -- probably ~50C operating ambient, <80% humidity. If you just do the math (current x voltage) and add them all up, you'll see it's ~650W in total for either model. So why the power rating difference? If you h...
