Sure you can suspend a 2.5" HDD in the 2.5" bay! Should be no problem, really. I'm not really an expert on PSUs, I personally swear by fanless units like PicoPSU and such. But rest assured, that no matter what case you get, you can make it extremely quiet. I use an old hacked up ThermalTake case, wh...

Hi, and welcome to the forum! The parts you have laid out there are low-power, thus easy to make a quiet PC out of. So that's a very good start! :) However, I do agree with mkk on the chassis/PSU. I'd consider another PSU - in fact, I recommend that you get a PicoPSU! IMO nothing beat those for quie...

As long as it's below 40° C you're totally fine, but in reality anything below 45-50° C should suffice. (for the HDD)

As for the C7? I guess as hot as regular CPUs?

Do you have any temperature measurements? Also which OS are you running?

Well, I went from a Raptor150 HDD to MTRON 32 GB SDD, and I really notice the speed. Even the workstation I use at work with two RAID 0+1 HDD@15K RPM is noticeable slower when opening programs like openoffice and such. I usually don't reboot linux, so I can't say anything much boot times, but when I...

An SSD will be completely silent. But WD GP HDDs are pretty good. Also do consider a 2.5" laptop HDD, they're generally more quiet. Remember to soft mount the harddrives, though!

About any case is good enough for your build, as long as it has 120mm fans! So go for one you like. :)

I'd recommend at least one fan. And the HDD will be a major source of noise and will overshadow any decent 600rpm 120mm fan. So I suggest you look more into silencing the HDD before looking into fanless case designa. IMO the entire fanless concept is a moot point, as long as you use good fans. You'r...

You seem to answer your own question. If a drive seeks, it is more audible for that time. Is there a specific scenario or HDD setup you are considering?

Hey guys, thank you for the opinions! I really appreciate it. I was wondering if anyone actually had experience in doing so.

On the fitting issues, at least my 3.5" Quiet Drive fits an optical drive bay perfectly, but I haven't tried the 2.5" HDD Quiet drive, though.

Possibly 2.5" 1TB Western Digital Scorpio Blue in a 3.5" Scythe Quiet Drive with one gel-pad removed. Just throwing in a contender here - I haven't tried this personally.

Anyone tried double Scythe Quiet Drive'ing a 2.5" HDD?

As title says! Has anyone tried putting a 2.5" harddrive into two Scythe Quiet Drives? If yes, how would this fare hard mounted? I'm pretty satisfied with my soft mounted 3.5" HDD in a quiet drive, but I want to move to a mini-ITX case, so I probably will need to hard mount the HDD unit in the 5.25"...

My Quiet Drive'd WD Green Power 1TB harddrive rests on four patches of harder foam, they're about 1.5x1x5 cm and approx 2 cm tall, one glued onto each corner of the Quiet Drive. That's what I found was best - suspension was not a option given my case layout and the size of a 5.25" Quiet Drive.

The only shock I got, was that my PC uses 20 watts when turned off. I'm glad I know now, so I know that I have to turn off on the socket also, but what could be the cause of this? Any 2.5" HDD >1TB?

Hey, just curious here.

Has anyone seen a 2.5" form factor drive, larger than 1TB. I've seen 1TB from Western Digital available, but nothing larger. Also, these drives are a bit taller. But my question is has anyone released, say, 1.5TB 2.5"?

I don't think that a such exist, but you can always get a USB-dongle with Gigabit ethernet, if adding a separate card isn't a option.

What is the use of this special setup?
