Re: Temps 55C at full load? Meh... I wouldn't worry about it. I think processors will handle much higher temps than most folks are comfortable with; and everyone has different comfort levels. And I would say that a good cablegami setup with flat cables can look better than a setup with round cables flopping around. My own cablegami work , and I've done better since then. If you are going to use rounded cables, I would trust some of the better quality ones than something custom and homebu...

How many, what size, where are they? What cooler are you currently running on the video card? How many PCI slo...

Anyone seen a solution that can power down a HD that isn't in use? An inline power switch. And the Search page. This has been discussed many, many times. I don't think it has really had a good solution presented, especially on the Windows side. If anything, I seem to remember that Linux might handl...

I can't understand how a passive cooler that keeps the VGA at 55c idle would dump the same amount of heat inside the case as a active cooler that keeps the VGA at 37c. *confused* What you're confusing is heat and temperature. The video card will maintain a constant (relatively) amount of heat outpu...

Try disconnecting the IDE cable from the drive and see what it does. Then it will only be powering on and not part of the BIOS bootup sequence. I'd guess that it will still make the same noises, its part of the powerup sequence for that drive.

There appear to be two potential problems. The GPU seems too far back. If that's the only problem, I think an aerocool heatpipe sink might fit, and if not you might be able to saw it down so it does. And the mounting holes might be rotated. If that's the problem, maybe a zalman might fit on rotated...

I've used one of their pillows for ~5 years now, love it. I'd have the mattress if they didn't decline me on credit. :(

As for case damping... interesting idea. I'd think it might do better at suspending (resting?) a hard drive than as case surround.

I generally don't see much of a need for a grille on an exhaust fan. Not like you'll cut your fingers as you can from the front of a fan. (darn Panaflo blades are sharp, trust me on this one)

Finally cooling off enough around here that I can stand having 3 AMDs at full tilt. Ended up not building the dually AMD that I had parts for, lost interest and needed the $$ for other stuff. I'll probably level out somewhere around 1500-2500ppw, depends on the WUs.
