Re: Time for a new rig
Too bad they still didn't resolve the multi-monitor RAM clock power issue. Nvidia is really nice when you have 2 60hz monitors, but if you have one 144hz the clocks get screwed, if you drop multi monitor you can have a single 144/240 and still downclocks correctly... but in my particular case, what...

Re: Mini-ITX gaming/work
Glad all work out for you. I had some help on the parts, the first recommendation was for the Scythe Mugen 5 Rev B cooler and that backplate didn't work with the ASRock board. While i see your point, and would be optimal if it didnt touch, the bottom is rubber, mine has been running for 6 months no ...

Re: Should I replace the stock Define R6 fans or its a waste of money?
Fans are something that are very peculiar to each person, tones are for some fine for others are bothering. I own a R6 and tested the fans, they are ok, but i still change them toward BL067 that have a smother tone (to my ears), but i would think for vast majority of users, the included fans are goo...

Then go with GIGABYTE X570 AORUS XTREME AMD Ryzen 3000 PCIe 4.0 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.2 AMD X570 E-ATX Motherboard, the only fanless X570 (besides the AsRock aqua) or wait for B550.silenceorgtfo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 6:32 pmI would make great use of the extra cores. Re: What case would you recommend? Mid tower that holds 12 drives?
Rosewill RSV-L4412 would be one of the smaller cases that can hold 12 drives, its a rack server case, but i bet with some light modding/cutting you could make it a sort of tower. The Fractal Design Define R6 can hold 11x 3.5 HDD (if you can manage to get 5 extra trays, only comes with 6). If you we...

Re: Replacing Define Mini C fans for quieter operation?
How do I check that? What is the temp ceiling? Whenever I looked in Task Manager all cores/threads were pegged at 100%. Is there a better way to know that? The temp ceiling is defined by AMD, i don't own your CPU, but search the web to see the max temperature where it still sustains the full boost,...

Re: Replacing Define Mini C fans for quieter operation?
I built the system over the weekend and ran the Prime95 torture test for about 18 hours with no errors. Ryzen Master was showing CPU temps of 65 - 75 Celsius. I think that's OK? As long as you are sustaining the boosts fully, the temps seems ok, AMD is pretty good as long as you don't hit the temp ...

Re: Replacing Define Mini C fans for quieter operation?
I would test the included fans first, we all have different needs so you might be fine as it comes, you can always upgrade them later on, but if you want to change the fans on Define C, you are already considering what i would use, Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM (on the back, if you are not into the color the...

As days go by, i see less and less offerings on micro atx, i blame it doesn't have enough of a change over ATX to make it attractive now a days having ITX, but if you are set on micro atx and if you are into glass, the SilverStone Technology SST-LD01B is a really nice option.

Re: Fractal Design Define Nano S - Quiet case fans?
probably stick with stock Mugen5 fans. Noctua's are great tho. Its not as good as NF-A12x25, but i would use it, its pretty good. I also think its a good route to go with the same fan for the back case, instead of the Bequiet to save some money, while on 140mm its harder to get good fans, on 120mm ...

550 Watts is fine with the 2070 super? there are 3 models of the 2070S. this one seems to have the 0db feature. Yes, 550W is plenty for your build. Remember to push the button on the PSU for it to be hybrid passive. 3 case fans and 2 fan headers on the board. No, the board has 3 headers. Remember t...

might look at different slightly faster memory ddr4-3000? didn't want to overclock really. Intel doesn't benefit as much on fast memory as AMD, but if your budget allows, my top picks depending if you want 16 or 32, just enter the bios and enable XMP and be done, G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8...

we wanted quiet as possible and I noticed that the Asus ROG STRIX Z390-I GAMING Mini ITX has only one case fan header. I would go with dual of the same fans on each of the two headers with Y splitter. this case has 3 case fans, was thinking about replacing with Noctua fans? (140mm in front?) be qui...

Re: I want to replace my good ol Define r4, what's better?
What I've read is that both Asus and Gigabyte GPU's have 0db on idle mode so since the GB is cheaper I will go for that one. Most of today GPUs have a 0 rpm idle mode, but even if they dont, its not a big deal as the rpm on idle will be at minimum, and very likely inaudible levels, the problem is l...

Re: I want to replace my good ol Define r4, what's better?
Can you recommend me a case to go with it that improves on the Define r4? Does the r6 improve on it? The R6 is a incremental improvement over the R4/5, it still follows the same basic principles, specially on the Define series where its a more closed/restricted enclosure. There are different approa...

I'm running fine a GTX1080ti + TR1950x with a two capture cards on R6, and its fine. While the R6 is restrictive, i don't think its totally to blame on your experience, my guess is that its your GPU to blame not the R6. Here is a very recent thread from another SPCR member that had similar hardware ...

I set all the BeQuiet! fan profiles so that the CPU temp never went above 55C, and the GPU was usually around 70C. This is your issue, as SometimesWarrior explained before, your thresholds are simply too low for a quiet pc setup, you either want a cool running pc or quiet running pc, you wont have ...

Go with the Asus Strix and move the slider before you install it, it will be very quiet. The fans don't turn on browsing, i mostly play WOW Classic now a days, and barely starts and stops, never even passes 57C, on light load its very quiet, and mine runs hotter than the 2080 super.

The 2070 Super seems nice, but it's a bit out of my price range. I'm ideally looking to spend $350-$400 I would suggest the Red Devil 5700xt then, the 29db places it as a very quiet gpu, i think you will be fine with the drivers, i would recommend to do a clean windows 10 install so you avoid as mu...
