Re: The eleventy-hundredth HTPC build
You might want to reconsider the SSD choice - Solid 3 and other drives with the new SF controller are known to cause issues. For all I've read this is not the safest SSD to buy now. Lots of SSD maker have/had issues (including Intel) but of all these the new SF problems are the most common - BSODs, ...

Re: Fortron Aurum Gold 400 or Seasonic ss-300et or ?
Xbit Labs tested 2 higher power Aurums recently - decent PSUs but awfully loud. Can't say if the loud part applies to smaller units. But I wouldn't bet on it. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cases/display/fsp-aurum-psu.html You could also try looking for these two FSP units: FSP Fortron/Source FSP2...

Re: Accelero S1 Rev.2 for HD6850/HD6870/5870
I've had several cards cooled by S1 - an excellent cooler, best price/performance ratio in the market I'd say. But you know that already ;) For fan setup I'd go for 2 smaller fans, at v low speed, mainly to keep the card's VRM as cool as possible. Cooling the GPU and RAM is no challenge, but it'd be...

Re: Efficient ~250W PSU available already?
I believe I've seen a guy with this FSP in his signature on a local forum. I could also try and ask around, see if anyone actually uses it. Also, the cheap one you found at Domex is marked as (literally) "post-service sale", which could roughly mean "refurbished" for all I know. Or just 2nd hand. Ca...

Re: Silverstone 500W Fanless Power Supply
That's a pointless PSU, especially when compared against SS X or KingWing etc. It's only bronze, it's not modular, it's way more expensive than SS or KW or just about any Gold PSU (not counting 1 kW pointless beasts, too). It's only as strong as SS X 460W - I mean 12V. So far I fail to see a single ...

Re: Which GTX560 Ti is the most quiet?
Not too keen on gbyte for GPU's. Theyre very flimsy and some dont have voltage regulators. Biggest issue with most nvidia cards is the horribly high fanspeed at iddle. This is fixed at 40%. You will have to flash your bios to get it any lower. Define flimsy  - lots of GB cards actually use th...

Take a look here - linky - while these are 560 cards (not Ti), the review may shed some light. Just focus on RPM numbers and temps and disregard db. For db only SCPR can be trusted ;) Anyway, I'd say go Windforce - I've read a lot of positive feedback from users of Nvidia cards with this cooler. Min...

Re: I have a challenge for users who know their motherboards
DFI UT P45 T3RS It's DDR3 and you'd need some more space "under" the mobo to fit the 4850+S1. RAM is dirt cheap now and you can most probably trade DDR2 for DDR3 w/o losses. or DFI LT X38 T2R This one is DDR2. I can't tell if any of them runs the bottom PCI-E at x8 (at least) or just x4 or sth. But...

Re: Antec truepower quattro fan replacing
Knowing your full config would help - you could be running a rig pulling 80W idle / 300W load or a 180W / 500W load beast, for all we know. If it's the former (or similar) I'd simply go with a single fan. For a hi-end machine, spending most of its time at load, perhaps 2 fans would be better. If you...

Re: My i3 gaming build
Seems a good build :) Some points: CPU - i3 is really nice, being at least equal in terms of performance to Q9650, but if you make some savings on other components (RAM, mobo, PSU) perhaps you can afford i5 2300? RAM - sure you need 8 GB? It's cheap now, true, but not needed for gaming at all. Also,...

Ok, so here's the story. What you need (apart from a 1155/1156 board and the original Ninja SCNJ-1000) is a backplate, such as one found in the Noctua NM-I3 SecuFirm2™ Mounting-Kit and a cutting tool. http://images45.fotosik.pl/997/cb4d962433bbc76am.jpg http://images45.fotosik.pl/997/ea6cc7d27f197ac...

I know that some (all?) XFX units are made by Seasonic. AFAIK one of the models was v loud. Yeah, I know, JG is not exactly a site to ...

I'm more interested in how the mobo manages CPU voltage when OCed. A good way of checking it would be to use CPU-Z. As for MSIs sheer ability to OC - I have no doubt it can OC to hell & back. I'm just not sure it can downclock properly if you select CPU vcore manually (as in raise it or lower it).

Re: PSU for my small+quiet PC (Antec NSK3480)
A decent 430W will pull you rig w/o problems. Be it 285 or 560 or some such. Even when/if you start OCing you CPU. I guess you may just hit 300W load at the wall if you crank the CPU. Perhaps 350W if you go wild. That means that you'll be pulling some 15% less energy from the PSU, which in turn puts...

Can you please elaborate on how the MSI board behaves when OCed? I mean, have raised Vcore to get 4.3 GHz? (probably not, but still have to ask). I was considering an MSI P67 board for an upgrade, but finally chose a GB, as MSIs have been reported to be unable to properly lower Vcore once changes in...

Still, what kind of innards do you run to actually need so much wind? The inside of your 1380 certainly looks empty. Actually, emptier than mine, and I run a puny system.

I recently read a few articles on these hydro systems by Corasir and Antec.
