Cool. Okay. You asked for it. ;) I think the rear 120mm grill on the back is beautiful and nicely positioned. Why did they have to put some ghetto 92mm slot for the front intake that is off-centered and positioned in a lop-sided fashion on the left side of the case (see below in the lower right)? ht...

Raising your HD's temp by 5C will have much more impact on its lifetime than suspending it, if done properly and securely. Depending on the suspension, though, you can unfortunately do just that. Thus decoupling/suspending can be a sword that cuts you both ways. If there is an increased wear and te...

I think it was Seagate that actually released a white paper on this. It has to do with the calibration of the actuator being designed for th...

Of Decoupling, the Samsung SpinPoint SP1614N, and Cooling

I plan to get a Samsung SpinPoint SP1614N and I hope to decouple it in a NoVibes III HDD Decoupling Rack . I've read the article on Effective Passive Hard Drive Cooling and the SPCR comments on the article. Compared to standard mounting, suspending a hard drive increases temperature somewhat, perhap...
