Has anyone tried memory foam?

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

How would memory foam perform in case dampening / vibration reduction?

(yes, I mean like the stuff they make pillows and temperpedic matresses out of)

Mmmm... Tempurpedic mattresses.

I've used one of their pillows for ~5 years now, love it. I'd have the mattress if they didn't decline me on credit. :(

As for case damping... interesting idea. I'd think it might do better at suspending (resting?) a hard drive than as case surround.

visco elastic memory foam could be used for vibration dampening - not sure of the thermal properties though.

found a website - foamex.com which has some interesting applications for some of their products - HDD vibration dampening and some materials for acoustic absorbtion

Ask Wintermute. He was thinking of trying it out.
