My goal is to break into the top 100... Other than that I can't see breaking the top 25 or 50.

Having finally made it to the top 100 myself recently, you'll find that it's unfortunately (for the team) not all that difficult. The number of active folders seems to be declining, and in the past couple of weeks despite various machine problems and not folding for a week, I've been moving up. But I agree that top 50 is tough. I'm looking to get into the top 75 as my next milestone.

We are down about 10 or 12 active folders from our all-time high. SPCR has never been a "big" team in numbers of folders. I remember well when we weren't making 10K per day, and had less than 100 active members, and I haven't really been around THAT long. 8 months maybe? I am mildly concerned about the drop, but it's rather expected given the time of year. Summer is not conducive to recruiting new folders, and lots of people cut back.

Looks like you are......but 280 days out?!? (as of midnight 6/4)
Not much of a threat

I however am on many people's threat list. Even many on the first page in the top 100. Looks like I could be in top 100 by the end of the month :!:

I'm moving on up...to the sky...to that deluxe apartment in the sky !!!

Yep. Looks like your catching up quickly. My machines seem to have lots of WUs that are taking forever and only have small point values :(

But like I said earlier in this thread, I'm losing my job because my facility is closing down. This will put me down 5 machines including my Xeon that has been producing so well. Plus I've stopped borging machines here so my production is only going to decrease as equipment is moved out of here to ol Mexico  :x :x :x

I'm glad I was able to help the team as much as I have been for the last couple of weeks. I'm still going to fold on my home machines, but won't be putting up anywhere close to the points I have been.

Good Luck to ya in your climb Cooper. I'm still hopeful that I can at least break into the top 100 for a short period of time.

bigred is giving me a run for the electrons. We're neck to neck.

BUT...... I've got some serious points on the line. Should be dumping them in the next day, something to the tune of 400+ points....

Race you to #100, burcakb!

(EDIT: more realistically, I should be racing quksilver... )

Sorry to hear of the bad news, Woodsboy. I was looking forward to racing you. I guess I'll have to try and catch Hoa_dong, but I don't think I stand a chance. :)

I hope new work finds its way to you quickly.

The race is on Putz!

And to give myself a handicap, I'll be taking down my wotan rig for some dremel time. As soon as I'm done with this 128 pointer gromacs that is

Yay! My first race!

Well, it won't be much of a race unless I can get that new machine I've been eyeing (and keep my old one as a dedicated folder, of course). But if I do, it will be a close race for #100!

(Meanwhile, I'm just trying to keep pace with quksilver!... )

To borrow a line from the notorious Macaholic, "Fold on!"

The two rigs in my sig. The Thor used to run 24/7 but with my now-refined ears it's too loud at night so I shut it down for apprx 5 hrs. Wotan gets shut down every night, always. Plus I've got my measly 1.2 GHz Centrino laptop that doesn't do well on tinkers and two P4-2 Ghz machines at work that users accidentally shut down FAH frequently. Plus those machines don't work @ weekends.

If all 5 were going full blast I'd be green :)

What's the deal with giving computers these funky names? :) I can hardly remember which one is which, now. Much less trying to keep a name attached to a particular box. :?

Here's some of my more exciting ones:

IDEQ
T2-P
AK39N
ANTEC
P4P800-VM

Pretty clever, huh?

Well, I assign names because the components in them change all the time. The names are given based on their function. Therefore the CPU or the case or the disk in one may change but the name stays.

Thor is my muscle machine, the biggie, the one I do most work on.
Wotan is the server, thus the name of the papa god.

When the cash is enough I plan to build an HTPC which I'll name Loki, the naughty & funny one.

I was going to name the server Freia as the mother goddess but decided to reserve the name for my mothers machine.

Makes finding things easier on the network.

We used to have just one file/app server at the office for both our time and billing, and professional app. Its name was "Server."

A couple of years ago, I decided that it would make more sense to separate the 2 functions, so I added another machine for the professional app. Its name is "Servernew."

Pretty wild imagination, huh. :)

Woah, your production the past few days has been huge! Congrats, burcakb. Not sure how you're feeding Wheaties to your computers, but it seems you've found a way.

I think I'll have to respectfully go back under my rock on this one. I thought I could be competitive with you, but I just can't keep up! My new machine purchase is now delayed, and further, my main folder (XP 2000+) will be down for a week...

Pat on the back for you, and fold on!

CharlieChan and I will be overtaking the now quiescent Lockheed within the next 24 hours or so. Not exactly a "race" when one guy isn't even folding for SPCR any more, but it still means we get to move up a notch in the rankings.

I've lost three machines!

One of my computers at home was drawing some pretty hefty watts while folding. :( I have it shut down until I get it sorted out. Additionally, seeing how much current these computers draw while folding left me feeling guilty so I took F@H off both of the computers I was using at work.

So now I'm folding with just one machine. Should be two machines soon. I'll be back after you then. :)

Not long before I'm dropped out the top 50.

:!: Time for an upgrade I think.

No reason why you shouldn't. That big jump was the result of several bigpoint WUs that were crunching away at the time. 8) And my Wotan rig is down currently so my production has gone back to normal levels. :( How you'll cover the safety distance I put in between is of course another matter

Hurry up though, wotan will be back up and with a vengence in three days and hopefully will be one I can dare put up at the Galleries section
