Count me in. I will have Sigma One hooked in 24/7, and Alpha Three will be folding as well, any time I'm home and the A/C is running.

I have also added a link to my buddy info in AIM, and I hope they are willing to join our team.

Good luck, and good folding.

I guess I can agree...

Now, I don't know if there's a way you guys can track me, but if you see me completely drop off, then the power went out or blipped/sagged at my home. It happens extremely often during the summer in Southern NY.

Right now I am using the same user name, SPCR_Edward_Ng on both, Sigma One and Alpha Three; does that combine my statistics?

-Ed

PS Oh and uhm, thanx.

Yes, it does. And the more machines you manage to borg, the faster you'll rise in the ranks :-)

And you'll also notice how addictive EOC's stats pages are.

Thankfully I've gotten over my obsession (partly due to the fact that I hardly move in the ranks now, except occasionally downwards). I only check every other day. As opposed to every 3 hourly :-)

Edit : Looks like I'm about to be overtaken again. And that's with 9 CPUs folding full time *sigh* Well at least I'll be in the 100K club in another week, with luck.

Well, I'll have to admit that I'll most likely be too busy with, either (other) the forums here, or outside duties (believe it or not, I not only have a real, outside life, but that life keeps me at least as busy as SPCR does ) to be checking up on my Folding stats on a constant basis; anyway, what chance do I have with a P4 2.2A bolstered by a sometimes on, sometimes off P4 3.0C against some of you real hardcore folders?

Heck, seems obvious enough that David, "pwns," this forum! I would hope his stats would be freightening!

Seems Alpha Three doesn't get very hot (my A/C's off and the ambient hasn't peaked, but the CPU is only at 51C and it's been full crank since I went to bed last night), so I will leave it running while I'm work and check the MBM log when I come back. If it doesn't break past the mid-60's, I'll let it go all the time when I'm not listening to hi-fi; it seems that after removing and applying TIM so many times doing the Hyper 6 review, that I've really gotten damn good at it (and quick, too!). Sigma One will stay on 24/7 of course.

I don't plan to fold with Gamma Two; frankly, it only is activated to play games, and gets deactivated as soon as my gaming session is over.

With the greatest of respect Ed, i don't think you realise what will become of you very shortly.

You'll be arming the Photon Torpedo's and 'Giving her all she's got Cap'n ' before you can say... "So you think you can go past me Eh, MrXXX?"

In fact the rot has already set in...
I don't plan to fold with Gamma Two
But you didn't say you wouldn't...

So you see,.. you already have some kind of idea of what lies ahead, now you just need to give in to it.

No further questions Your Honor.

Welcome to the denial..

Honestly, what are the chances of me being even in the top 100 on our list?

Gamma Two's just not quiet enough to have running all the time (my standard was very low for it, because when I run Gamma Two, I use headphones). Were it quieter, I'd consider it, but it's not. Plus, running all three machines would definitely require A/C, and do you have any idea what my power bill would look like?!?

FYI I'm running an XP2400+ (2.0Ghz) 24/7 and an XP1600+ (1.6Ghz) 6:00PM - 8:00AM nightly and all weekend and getting 750-800 PPW.

So you should do better than that.

Really it's just a case of time/waiting.

And I would guess 6-8 weeks before Gamma Two 'needs' an upgrade of fans to facilitate greater points amassing.

I have peaked with my current set up at around the 80# mark and will now start to drop down the ranks as higher fire power boys go past me. Although there are still several above me to go past so it will kinda even out... until I do an upgrade.

Raw Ghz is the main friend of folding power.

Have you read the stickies and added the correct flags (i.e. advmethods etc.) to optimize F@H for your P's ?

Do you know where to feed you points knowledge addiction?

Do you have any questions? (No matter how they may seem to you)

And are you folding under Edward_Ng ?

I would, but if I run all three machines plus the A/C (all three machines are in my room, all three machines are overclocked and my room is hot year round, so it would take the A/C for sure. That's life in the top floor of an apartment building. The issue with that is the power draw of three computers plus the A/C 24/7 my power bill is going to shoot through the roof that's only a few feet above my head.

Gamma Two's ventilation is just fine; my room's is not. It would be cookin' in there if they were all on 24/7 with only intermittent A/C; Gamma Two probably cooks up as much heat as the other two computers combined, at the least.

I'll start tweaking my Folding software a little later on when I've caught up on my sleep and such (which I plan to do after work today, assuming the phone doesn't ring every 30 minutes as it always does).

I'm folding under the alias, SPCR_Edward_Ng.

PS Why is it that when I try to check my user stats all it does it sit there giving me the loading animation forever?!?

As if that would happen round here... Just look at our own haysdb, TRC13, bkh, wrgagg, mas92264, CharlieChan, Zyzzyx, Cosine, dasman, mike_chin, etc. etc. etc. nothing unusual in owning several putors with only one purpose ... perfectly normal...

When I get home, I'll check my URL, but I do know that whenever I go to check stats from my tray icon menu, it brings up one page that redirects me to the loading page, which just sits there loading.

Ed, for the official Stanford site page for SPCR you want
http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main ... mnum=31574
and for the team first page on EOC you want
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ ... s=&t=31574
you can navigate to the other pages from there. And if you click on you name there you'll get a page that will show your predicted overtake dates etc. which will also have page links to show your overtake predictions on other pages.

This page is perfectly safe to look at and not addictive in the slightest.

BTW you won't show up on Stanford till you put in some points and they do an update. A horrible wait as I recall, and then you have to wait till EOC catches up.

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ ... s=&u=34764 is my 'overtake/passing me' page to give you an example.

Pete

P.S. your right, that icon page is slow and only takes you 'eventually' to the Stanford home page.

EMIII is the bees' knees for monitoing what your boxes are doing. Somewhat of a pita to set up, but, once you get it going it's the greatest.

I just checked that link and finally saw a glimpse of what level I'm performing at, and those numbers look, well, "wack." I would think I'm doing better than that (for one, I've had at least two CPUs cranking away since last night). Is there any accuracy to that report at all?!?

-Ed

PS I'ma have a closer look at EMIII a little later tonight; looks promising...

At the moment you are 'suffering' from EOC being .... late and the way they sort things out.

It will take a while for your figures to 'stabilize' and give you a true picture.

Currently 12 on first page and 49 on the second page are on your overtake list, and thats with a 16 points a day average, when the stats pages 'catch' up with what your actually doing (more like 100-150 PPD) it will look very good.

Don't be disheartened, it is very frustrating at first but you will see big improvments. The PPD stats on EOC go from Sunday to Sunday (I think) so the end of next week will give a much more accurate account of your achievements.

Even at 16PPD there's 16 people on your hits list in the next week. Wait till EOC catches up with your next WU or two and you will feel much better about your progress.

Keep the faith and wear your badge :

Code: Select all

with pride.

It currently looks like this :
Image

and will only get better.

Expect to see you on my 'gonna over take me' list soon. 8) 8)

Regards

Pete

P.S. if you go to the Stanford SPCR team page and click on your name you then get a page that gives links to your certificates. You have a cert for contributing 100 points and a cert for contributing 2 WU. In case you want them but miss them (They only have the latest ones ) I have saved them for your posterity and will email them if you would like, just PM me.

Yes, I have saved my first few certs

And now 25~ places in the next week,... and that's before you put up any more points... !!!

Getting better all the time Ed... 8)

Up 72 places already...

Keep watching, it's only gonna get better...

8) 8)

Pete

P.S. look at Page Three and Page Two to see how many greens are on your overtake list... and just wait till your up to full production on EOC pages...

ROOOOOOOOOOOFL some of these overtakes won't happen before I get married and have kids (hopefully)! The chances that an overtake listed for 2012 won't change (better or worse) are pretty much 0.000000%.

Oh well, definitely quite amusing!
