Dual-DVI Radeon 9800

Post by Wintermute » Wed Mar 10, 2004 7:34 pm

Rumor is that Sapphire and a couple other ATI vendors will be unveiling Dual-DVI capable 9800 cards at CeBit in Hannover in a week. I have been desperately waiting for a Dual-DVI 9800XT for a while. Hopefully the wait should be over soon. Here is a link:

Sapphire Dual-DVI?

Excerpt:

The RADEON 9800 and RADEON 9800SE are being offered with Dual DVI-I and VIVO. Whether 2x analog or 2x digital or combined - anything is possible with these cards! Sapphire (Hall 23, B50) is presenting its new cards based on the Radeon 9200, 9600 and 9800 at CeBIT.

I called Sapphire to see if this was true and didn't get very far. I read in THG forums that Gainward also has a Dual-DVI Ati Solution based on the 9800, though I haven't seen anything on their website yet. In any event, those with dual LCD's keep your fingers crossed.

EDIT: Dual-DVI is confirmed

Now THAT would be awesome, especially for people like me, who've been waiting a long time for an ATI card with good 3d that supports dual DVI and isn't a workstation card.
