XFX GeForce 6600 128MB Passive Cooling PVT43PNDH7
Does anyone know anything about this card?
XFX GeForce 6600 128MB Passive Cooling PCI-Express, Tv-Out/DVI, Retail
I just found it at komplett.se (swedish internetstore) and it doesn't cost more than the ordinary fan cooled non GT 6600 cards (actually a bit less than quite a few of the other ones at komplett). However they don't give any more information than just the title which I wrote above. The XFX webpage don't list the model at all. So I called the store and asked them, the guy answering could only tell me that it was a brand new card and that he really didn't know anything else than what the title told me. I'm going to try to email XFX hope they answer though.

Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150090jamesm wrote:well, it's only the non-GT model. most of them seem to be european. i couldn't find any american vendors selling it.
Too bad my mobo hasn't got the pci-express socket...
And too bad that the card isn't available as AGP

An AGP 6600 is available here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814125189 . It has a heatpipe but it's not dual DVI. I really regret that my last board was AGP and not PCI.fanless wrote:Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150090jamesm wrote:well, it's only the non-GT model. most of them seem to be european. i couldn't find any american vendors selling it.

According to this source http://www.hardwareluxx.de/cms/artikel. ... 26&seite=5 a system with a 6600GT (Gigabyte NX66T128D ) draws ~221 Watts under load. The same system equipped with 6600 (Gigabyte NX66128D) draws 196 Watts. So difference under load is ~25W.
During idle the difference is about ~8W (113W vs. 105W).
X-bit labs has meassured power consumption of the 6600GT: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/ ... -oc_3.html
Load: 48W
Idle: 19W
So i guess that the power consumption of the 6600 is:
Load: 48W - 25W = 23W
Idle: 19W - 8W = 11W
Please correct me if I'm wrong!

GIGABYTE GV-N66256DP Geforce 6600
The GIGABYTE GV-N66256DP Geforce 6600 is also passively cooled, and it is APG.
I'm considering using it in my new system. However, I'm worried about all that heat just sitting around. What kind of case fans would one need with a card like this?

A bit off topic maybe but I've never been able to figure out the differences in the product lines because it seems to vary. This quote in this anandtech url started the confusion for me:
What was once known only as the NV4x Video Processor has now been given the marketing name PureVideo. PureVideo is exclusively available on the GeForce 6 series of GPUs and only the latest GeForce 6 GPUs have a fully functional PureVideo core. The original NV40 and NV45 (GeForce 6800GT/Ultra) do not have functional Windows Media Video 9 decode acceleration, but the rest of the GeForce 6 series are feature complete (GeForce 6800/6600GT/6600/6200).
Oh well, I decided to to try it out (the card the topic started out about ) since I heard XFX make good cards. I ordered it a few days ago. I'm still waiting for it to arrive since they didn't have two Papst fans I also orderd in stock (they should have arrived at the store yesterday, but according to their site they still haven't).
