HD7770 DirectCu vs DirectCu II, quieter one?
This may sound a bit stupid, but I would like to know which of these two versions would be more silent:

I've found very little research on the DirectCu II version as its more expensive and most people would rather get a 7850, specially those who are not in the silent world Another "advantage" is that this one has 2GB of VRAM, pretty pointless for a mid-range GPU anyway.

Haven't seen any reviews for the 2-fan version. Here's the single fanned one reviewed at Techpowerup. It's down near their noise floor.

You can't make this conclusion without knowing the details of the two coolers. The fan profiles may be different, the heatsinks may be different, etc..

At the same airflow.
The DCU-II has a larger heatsink and more fan "area", because of this it very likely that it will need less airflow and thus be quieter.

I'm looking for a review, sadly it is not a very popular card.

Steve and Tim are right, I was merely arguing that the two fans spinning at the same speed as a single fan would be slightly louder. That does not account for the resistance they face.
Found this though. There is also a DirectCuII v1 that is different, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the 7770.

Actually, for the same airflow, two fans can easily be quieter than one, since they will be running slower. I think you meant at the same speed (ie, with twice the airflow) rather than the same airflow.tim851 wrote:At the same airflow.
