Antec P150 Graphics Cards?

Post by Cantona33 » Thu Aug 24, 2006 9:24 am

Hi - Im building a system with a Anter P150 and an E6600 on a Asus P5B - what kind of graphics cards can I consider - will it have enough power for a X1900GT?

I dont really do games but want a quick card with vista in mind.

Thanks

Short Answer yes it will. (i guess you are talking about the Neo HE 430 PSU) that comes with the Case.

Yes - sorry should have mentioned Im going to use the stock psu. Are there any cards that would need too much power?

Thanks for the advice.

nope, if you were to Go for SLI or Crossfire then i would say think about upgradeing but it will be able to run any graphics card i know of, as long as your not going to be running hundreds of Hard drives.

Hi,
I dont really do games but want a quick card with vista in mind.
Vista Aeroglass 3D interface is designed to run with current integrated chipsets like NForce 6100/6150. No Shader Model 3.0, only Shader model 2.0 is used.

A Nvidia 7600GS (256MB model) will be more than fine.
Since you post here (a silent PC forum) you are probably at least a little bit interested in keeping your PC quiet i think - the complete X1900 series isn't famous for beeing efficient nor being quiet.

yes the x1??? series are known to be loud. The x1800 was the worst.

id say go w/ a 7600 gt or if u want the extra power a 7900 gt (that is overclocked).

the nVidia cards consume less watts then the equivalent ATi

I'm looking for the cheapest passive VGA card that will run Vista Aero - absolutely no gaming.

Will an Asus Extreme N6200TC512/TD/256M work? It costs £34 from Scan UK

Hi,

i can't tell you for sure if this card is fast enough.
It at least fullfills all specifications Vista demands,
which are
-DirectX 9.0c compatible
-Shader model 2.0
-enough onboard memory

I've read posts an a german forum that the beta of Vista ran well even with a Geforce FX5200 which is considerably older than this card. The FX5200 is a very weak card (i own it myself), on the contrary Vista isn't a game - and game graphics is definitly more demanding than drawing some 3D Windows.
So for 99% this card should be OK ... but don't put the blame on
me if it's not.
