Intel DH55TC WOL problems - SOLVED

Post by eeyoredk » Fri Nov 19, 2010 9:47 am

Hi

I have the following system:

DH55TC
Core i3 530
4x2GB corsair XMS3 1333
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

My problem is that it won't wake from S3 unless a magic packet is used. From S1 there is no problem waking it using pattern match. S1 is however not a solution, because it uses to much power (28W compared to 2W in S3).

I have tried several different BIOS's and NIC drivers but it has not solved the problem.

Edit: i have now tried different PSU (isk-100 and corsair 400W) but no go. I have also tried with different RAM.

Do any of you have any suggestions?

What's wrong with magic packet wake-up form S3? A tap on the keyboard also works.

The PC is used as a media storage server and many hardware players does not send magic packets, so they can't wake it up.

I reinstalled the PC, but that did not solve the problem. Then I tried to reinstall the Intel driver and this time only installing the driver itself, leaving out Intel's management software. That solved the problem.

Thanks Intel, for making shitty software.

WOL now works perfectly, both with pattern match and magic packet.
