I was looking into building another no moving part PC for audio use, and came across this cheap board on Newegg. It has a 17w Sandy Bridge Celeron 847 (1.1ghz dual core, HD2000 graphics) soldered on. Has anyone looked into this board before?
Pros:
- Cheap
- CPU should benchmark faster than AMD E350 or Intel Atom
- Looks like only 25w draw under load, but the poster @ Newegg didn't specify the rest of the components
- PCIe x16 slot (x8 electrical)
Cons:
- CPU fan is supposedly loud, but it looks easy to replace
- SPDIF is on a +5v header, needs an extra dongle to be useful

I have one on order and will post my thoughts once I receive it. I'm hoping that the mounting bracket for the included HSF matches a northbridge so that I can install Xigmatek's 80mm tower cooler on it. I already have a PicoPSU, 8G DDR3, and old 64G SSD handy.

I think that the Xigmatek(This one ?) NB heatsink is a bad choice - unless you make a four-point mounting system with support on the CPU. All the low power CPU's have the bare silicon as cooling surface - pretty easy to chip/crack. I'd rather go with the Enzotech CNB-SI; smaller, but enough to cool 17W if you have some airflow over the MB, or use 40mm fan on "low"(max. 2000) RPM, and much safer to install and deploy.
