My ECO experiences here:

How did you manage to disable the CPU fan? Mine keeps running whatever I do.
Also, for how long is it stopped? Does the CPU idle at lower than 47 degrees?
I think the Eco Center Pro and the BIOS are somehow working against each other.

Thanks. Uh, I think in the eco app, I set to no power, and then it should spin up. It worked, but I had some strange reboots with only a kernel power event in Eventmanager. After removing the flag it ran fine. The memory modules are rma'ed, so is not running right now.

Some examples.
Do you know if the Z97 chipset is also a safe bet if one wants to avoid DPC latency issues?

Try to find tests of boards. The chipset isn't adding or reducing that latency, but higher-end motherboards tend to get more performance tuning done to their firmwares, and what few sites test DPC latency of course only do so for samples they receive, which aren't of the boring B85 or H81 chipsets.

Either of the '97 chipsets have
much improved DPC latency over any of the '87's. Here's a comparison of Z87 and Z97 boards at
Anandtech.
