I have two DM9 and one Maxline 11 drives and I use AMSET to set AAM. The 2 DM9 SATA drives do not get recognised by AMSET till I go into the BIOS and change the setting from Enhanced to Compatible Mode on my ASUS P4C800ED board.

AAM can be set off according to this:
http://forums.storagereview.net/index.p ... t&p=197678

Maxtor's AMSET - Acoustic Management Utility:

NB! I haven't tested it myself.

Do report whether you get it to work.

well i have tried amset amd ftool now on two motherboards and the dm10 with no joy, both will set an older dm9 but not the dm10! i have also asked maxtor and after a while of beating around the bush (suggesting a buy a quiet drive enclosure)? i got this reply...

---------------
my question.

can you set aam on the maxtor d10 sata 300 gigs?
yes or no?
if yes can you recomend a third party software app?

i have tried numerous tools and none of them can set aam on the maxtor dm10!

reply.

No, also we do not recommend third party software.
Sorry we cannot help you with this issue.
------------

i am still confused as their are a number of people saying they have set aam on the dm10. is it just the sata models you cant set aam on???

can anyone shed some light on this problem?

You could try the utility in this topic: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=19656

FWIW, I noticed an option to change AAM in the newest version of ATITool.
