Scythe Ninja on Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939

Post by m00k » Fri Nov 18, 2005 1:32 am

Hello,

I tried to find this information on the web, but I am still in doubt. I have a GigaByte GA-K8NS Ultra 939 board, which uses a plastiv retention module. I know that with the Ninja you get a new backplate, but i am wondering if the location dimm-slots of the mainboard will be a problem. Anybody with any experience with this particular mainboard (or one with similar layout) and the Ninja?

Your board looks same layout as mine around the CPU and mem slots - Ninja fits fine, although I've used memory slots 3,4 to give better clearance.
Yes, you'll need to cut off the std retainer round the CPU.

I asked on these forums how to remove the backplate, as it wasn't obvious. On the back, the pins have 3 sections. Push in the middle section, then the other two squeeze together.

(Caveat - I haven't tried this yet myself.)

This might help too when you get ready to remove the plastic backplate.

Thanks for the tips! I sent an email to Scythe Germany and they replied the next day. Very nice!

I'll order one this week and see how it all fits :D
