Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
Nice find.
Makes me wonder if its going to be released like the HR02 with no fan, seems like the original HR02 with nickel plated pipes... but then again its probably a prototype.... maybe a macho version later with the TY150.

Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
Oh my that's big, but it's nice to see them doing something new even if I'd rather see them populating the market with HR-02 Macho's again. This HR-22 ought to become a bit expensive.
Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
Im really exited about it... probably wont catch the twin tower coolers, but 15% more area, will be decent, but this extra space will probably allow the TY150 to be used, and this fan can drop to 500rpm according to thermalright, probably less if its like the TY141 which has a 900rpm as the low rating, and i still can drive them around 700rpm.
Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
I was browsing for more info, and seems thermalright is starting to get ready to present the succesor of the HR02, i couldnt access the main page but with some playing around found the page, but its up just not link to the main page, here is the link, Thermalright HR22 main web, one interesting thing is that its 3mm less tall than HR02 Macho, but 10mm wider and 25mm deeper, 260g more than the original HR02 and 420g more than the Macho,
Some marketing remarks,
Heatsink Specifications:
Dimension: L150mm x W120mm x H159mm
Weight: 1120g
Heat pipes: 6mm heatpipe*8 units
Fin: T = 0.5 mm ; Gap = 2.8 mm
Fin Pcs: 35 pcs
Copper Base: C1100 Pure copper nickel plated
Motherboard to Fin: 36 + 8 = 44 mm 46 + 8=54 mm
Some marketing remarks,
Lets hope thermalright sends a sample for SPCR to test.40% Larger Heat Dissipation Surface Area than it's predecessor, and largest Heat Dissipation Surface Area to date among Thermalright Heatsinks.
Proprietary Airflow Tunnel add-on kit for a 5-10% performance increase in Passive Cooling mode.

Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
Hmm, I *might* get one to put in my Silverstone SG07, to replace the HR-02 that's currently in there.
Not as tall, so no more heatpipes sticking out the top vent! Might have to cut part of the horizontal support bar to accommodate the HR-22's extra width.
EDIT: Wait nevermind... There's only 15mm between the rear of the HR-02 and the rear panel of the SG07, so probably won't fit after all. Maybe an NH-D14 instead?

Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
One intersting thing a OCN fellow found, was its not centered, we know the HR02 is asymetrical, growing flush to the CPU cooler but this time seems they CPU position is also not centered, since its 10mm widder than Macho, and macho is already mm into the first PCIe slot, seems the side to PCIe slot has 50mm and the other side 60mm, giving the same clearance than the HR02 macho.
Hope i can still fit my intel gigabit ct lan card on the first PCIex1 slot ill be a happy camper. This should make it so it still fits Micro ATX setups like i had on the TJ08-E or play good with mini ITX setup like the Prodigy/Node304 (but the lenght might be too much).
Kinda sad that the cooler is not taller, i bought the R4 expecting it to be 170mm like the Archon SBE.

Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
For those interested, the cooler is available now for the US/Canada. As it was the case with the HR02, its expensive and no included fan.
Thermalright HR-22 $99.99 free shipping
Sadly i cant buy it yet, nansgaming dont take international CC, so ill have to wait to reach amazon.
Hope SPCR gets a sample to review, im really interested into how it performs against the NoFAN95.

Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
This weighs about the same as the Scythe Orochi. Even with better mounting hardware, I can't see SPCR reviewing it for the same reason they refused to review the Orochi: it weights too damn much and is a danger to motherboards when mounted sideways.
Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
The weight is high, no question, Weight: 1120g, but there has been other coolers reviewed, specially twin towers, like Noctua NH-D14 flagship dual-fan CPU cooler = 1240g w/ 2 fans and Phanteks PH-TC14PE Dual Fan CPU Heatsink = 1250g (Dual). The HR22 is suppose to be a fanless cooler, so the weight should be still lower than these two previously reviewed, with a fan on it should be slightly higher, but close. I do agree that this are the boundaries into whats safe to mount, but i don't think its way over what has been reviewed in the past.BD Hopkins wrote:This weighs about the same as the Scythe Orochi. Re: Thermalright HR-22 spotted
I stand corrected. I didn't realize those twin tower coolers were so heavy.
edit:
The inferior mounting mechanism in the Orochi must be the deciding factor, then, otherwise by their own reasoning they should have opted out of reviewing those twin tower beasts. I find this strange, though, because while I can see an inferior mount making less contact with the cpu and offering less cooling, this doesn't necessarily translate into it being more dangerous for the motherboard.
