It doesn't look like it has anything unique to offer SPCR. Bog standard layout, cramped HD cage (little room for suspension without removal).Erssa wrote:I just stumbled on Akasa Mirage-62 case. I really hope you will review it.
I really do wish that, on cases with doors, more manufacturers would make the power button accessible when the door is closed, like this one.

GMA 965 review?
I'd love to see a review of a decent G965 board (intel onboard graphics, core 2 duo).
This considering that newer graphics card consume loads of power and are very noisy. It'd be interesting to see just what you can do and play on one of these boards, with maximum efficiency and low power usage and noise.
Ideally that'd be a G965 board that's passively cooled (or nearly) and with a dvd output.
I can dream, right?

Thermalright SI-128
Any chance of reviewing the Thermalright SI-128? Admittedly the fins are somewhat closely spaced but decent non tower native socket LGA775 heatsinks optimised for low airflow seem to be a little thin on the ground at the moment (or I'm looking in the wrong places) and I'm concerned about the motherboard cooling issues encountered with tower style heatsinks.
Cheers
Cheers
If you guys are going to update the heatsink round-up, please make sure to add the Tuniq Tower 120 to the review. That heatsink is so popular, I am wondering how it performs sound wise. It is one of the best -if not THE best- air cooler out on the market right now.
Another suggestion: Lian-Li PC-S80. This case is built with acoustics in mind, it's somewhat like the Antec P180 but Lian-Li quality. I am wondering which case is better sound wise, either the P180 or the PC-S80.

The Gigabyte Aurora 3D 570 case.
I only read a few reviews of it and don't plan to buy one (still content with current case).
It does have 2x 120 mm fans in the back (and 1x 120 mm fan in front - take out the toolkit box behind it). You could seriously undervolt the two rear fans and still get enough airflow.
Left side has a mesh window, could be a downside. There seems to be a clear plastic window included which can be installed to block air entering from the side.
Maybe a little more bling-bling then most here like for a silent case but it has potential?

Ah, just wanted to post a request for it toospookmineer wrote:The Gigabyte Aurora 3D 570 case.

It looks really nice, I think it will be the case for my next rig.
So would it be possible to review it?

Any chance of giving the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000/2000 120mms the full SPCR workover? I've heard some very good things about these fans, and they are priced very nicely in comparison with the likes of the Noctua and S-Flex (in the UK at least, not sure about the USA).
Madshrimp compared them favorably with the GlobalWin 1202512L and Noctua, but the SPCR testing methodology is far more rigorous IMO!

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I'd like to suggest some PSU's for tests.
Tacens Valeo and Aeris- semi-passive PSU's that are reported by people (around here) to behave v decently in terms of noise, even after the 135 mm fan starts spinning. Said to be capable of working in passive mode up to ca 150W load. Made by Andyson, not yet popular.
Be Quiet! Straight Power - again, reported by local silence geeks to compete with S12 both in idle and under load. Made by FSP (good sign), claimed efficiency is +80%, good fan (120 mm) & controller. When compared to Dark Power, the Straight Power series is said to be audibly quieter. V popular around EU.

Take3/Take4
Hoping the Antec Take3/Take4 review will come soon!
And thanks you guys for such a great site, that has been extremely helpful when choosing parts for my new digital audio workstation...
Keep up the good work!

I also vote in favor of a sharkoon Silent Eagle test. Maybe as an addendum to the great 120mm fan roundup? Other sites have very favorable reviews, but I never trust them as much as I trust the spcr tests.simonnance wrote:Any chance of giving the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000/2000 120mms the full SPCR workover? I see Nexus has some exciting looking new stuff. What are the chances of a review of the following?
NX-8040/8050/8060 PSU. 80+, 120mm fan, modular cables, 17.6 dBA in idle, 400/500/600W. Curiously, their noise graph shows the 500W model as quieter than the 400 at all loads. This looks very close to being the perfect ATX PSU.
PSB-1000 PSU - a DC-to-DC PSU like the picoPSU but a bit bigger (but still no SATA :-() and matching FSP150-AAA 150W power brick
Psile 10 SFF case. It is designed with the low noise and the PSB-1000 in mind - it has no space for a 'regular' PSU. It can fit a GPU card. It looks like it has quite a bit of headroom for a large CPU heatsink - it might even fit a Ninja. However, it looks to be seriously short of vents, won't take a 120mm fan, and if you suspend a laptop harddrive in the hard-drive mounting space, it wouldn't be cooled very well at all.

In a thread in the "Power Supplies" section, a Nexus employee said that they will send some review samples to spcr.Filias Cupio wrote:I see Nexus has some exciting looking new stuff. What are the chances of a review of the following?

Hi,
Will you guys review the new Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 in the near future?
I have been reading about it and I am quite interested in getting this particular heatsink for my Powercolor X1950Pro Extreme as it is currently the "loudest" part in my computer.
Thanks.

I put the Fortron Zen 400 W on the wish list since it seems the most efficient ATX PSU as far as I can see.

Booster PSU
I see booster PSUs on sale, which power graphis cards, leaving the original PSU to power everything else
http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_1763.html
I think they are fanless
Any chance of a review showing how much quieter a standard PSU becomes if it has a booster to help it. The standard PSU will operate at reduced power, making it quieter.

that thermaltake 250W you linked to has a fan (link) as does the FSP BoosterX3. because of the size they have to use really small fans, so unless they are really efficient the small fans have to spin very fast (=noise).I think they are fanless
I would like to see the follow products reviewed by SPCR:
