Formatting 3TB drive
So this isn't really about silent computing, got that under my belt already, but rather trying to work a new 3TB drive I just bought. Its a Seagate 3TB Barracuda. Blame it on not researching before I bought in, but I am having problems trying to get the drive to format right now. I'm using it with a...

Proposing new ITX system
So I got a job to build a new m-ITX system for someone. I have the following list of parts, I think it should be fine, but I want some opinions from here. Lian Li Q08B Intel DQ57TM mATX LGA1156 Q57 Intel Core i5 750 Corsair 4GB DDR3 Seasonic M12 650W XFX 5850 some SSD Seagate 7200.12 1TB Samsung DVD...

Zotac 9300 ITX temperatures.
Very simple question, what temperatures should it run at... Or more specifically, what temperature should I keep it under?
It idles at 47C, playing some flash media and its at 51C

So I've started building my ISK-300 with a 9300ITX. So far so good except foe the snag I'm in with the brace/drive cage that goes from front to back on the case. The cage hits the Shuriken 3 I'm using.on it. I'm currently deciding whether to cut the case or the sink. One more thing to note is, the S...

Disassembling external DVD drives
I'm wondering, for those Samsung external slim DVD drives, can I disassemble them and use them as an internal slim drive?
Its ridiculous how an external drive is cheaper than an internal drive.

So I've installed the PSU in last night with a new dual core processor. Initial impressions are average. The fan seem to get pretty rowdy after awhile, and it is longer than my Seasonic. The PSU got into the way of my fan so I had to remove my top blow hole and slightly altering my airflow for the w...

I've been scanning around the net for reviews on this power supply. So far feedback has been good for its sister lines from BFG tech, so I'm hoping for good things. Its sister lines LS and MX are great for voltage regulation and DC quality, I think it should carry over. Now on the notion of noise. I...

BFG GS-550 anyone?
Did I quick search and didn't find anything. I just impulse bought this power supply from NCIX because it was for sale for only $40, can't really argue lol. I was wondering how is it and if anyone has any ideas? The thing that caught my attention was the use of 140mm fan. That's the only reason I to...

I think I'll go pick up a fan, I'm a bit uncomfortable with the temperatures myself too. I gotta admit the Glaciator is a really good heatsink, but the EN8800GS won't do fan control and the fan is running constantly at 12V making a ton of noise. I didn't wanna snip the connectors and such so I just ...

So I broke down and bought an Accelero S1. Should I be running passive on it? I'm already running my CPU passive with a Scythe Andy Samurai. I have a top blow hole(80mm), a side panel fan(80mm), and a soft mounted(name dangling with elastic) 120mm on the front. All those fans are plugged in to 5V pl...

Accelero S1 included instructions
So I broke down and bought an Accelero S1 for my 8800GS cause the stock Glaciator cooler from ASUS was driving me nuts.
I'm reading the instructions and its telling me I need to use an eraser on the memory chips for optimum performance... WTF?
Any tips guys?

Good cooler for 8800GS
Hey guys, I would like to hear some suggestions from you guys. I have a ASUS EN8800GS with the Glaciator heatsink. Its basically a radial heatsink with a 80mm fan on it. While its a great cooler(temperature seems to be excellent), I find it rather loud, and the bearing noise of the 80mm seems a litt...

Scythe Shuriken 3
Hi all, just wondering what ur takes on this cooler is since Mike and co didn't do a review on this particular model. I'm looking decent performance and good accoustics. I'm considering this heatsink for my 939 board, ASUS A8V-E SE, on an overclocked Winchester. If anyone doesn't think its a good he...

I've built a semi new computer with parts I've gathered abroad and consists of the following. ASUS A8V-E SE Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester 2x 512 MB Corsair XMS DDR400 ASUS 8800GS Audigy2 (vanilla) Seasonic Super Tornado 300W Windows is COMPLETELY fine, and same with Prime95, but Firefox and Internet Ex...

There are some differences to the circuit board, but I guess it doesn't really matter. On a side note, as I was searching up these boards, I realized that the older A8V and A8V-E Deluxe had the same southbridge as my KT600 board I'm using for my Athlon XP. The A8V-SE only has a slightly revised vers...

Thanks guys for the enthusiastic help, very much appreciate it. Yes Mats, you nailed it, it says A8V-E SE there  I also found the chip that is the Marvell Gbit lan. Its a lot smaller than what I expect it to be compared to the discrete PCI lan cards that I've used. However, this begs the questi...

Help me figure out my board
I have a board sitting here, telling me that, on top of it, that it is an ASUS A8V-E. I cannot, for the love of god, find ANYTHING for this. It isn't even LISTED on the ASUS site, none of them, global, taiwan, US, Canada, HK. The board layout is the same as the A8V-E Deluxe but with a sticker on top...

ASUS En8800GS Glaciator
As I await a CPU heatsink bracket from a very generous(psiu) member here who's sending one to me at no charge, I'll do some research.
