Ack, I hate typing on laptops. The buttons are flat instead of at an angle, there's almost no tactile feedback, and everything is crammed closer together.... There's nothing good about laptop keyboards except the noise.... The Mac keyboards are a little better than laptop keyboards, they are angled ...

If you're looking for maximum performance AND quiet, there is the option of high-performance solid-state drives..... Basically PCI cards with a huge bank of RAM chips and a battery to keep them from losing data when the power is off. Be ready to shell out a few grand for any decent amount of storage...

As a side note, I have an old 80Gb Barracuda IV which is actually a Seagate prototype which came from their local factory. It was used to test the head mounting method for the IV. It has no Seashield, no blue foam under the board, and no label on the top of the drive. It is fairly quiet, certainly ...

Because there is no visible damage or any indication that I broke anything. Im still not 100% certain that it was the installation of the Zalman heatsink that broke it. The power connector was having quite a few issues, and I really had to push hard to get it in, its possible I broke the board doin...

I crushed a 9800 pro. Managed to get an AIW through an RMA though.... so it worked out in the long run. The old card couldn't OC worth crap, and this AIW 9800 pro goes far past XT speeds (but I keep it at 412/365). No, no crunching sound. The instructions are generally good, but they don't give any ...

You're lucky you didnt fry your radeon LOL Nah. If your ambient temps arent too high, and you're not doing anything graphically intensive, I think you'd be okay with the fan unplugged. For a while, anyway, then you'd start to see artifacts (on your Windows desktop). The artifacts would be a sign th...

Be careful with the VGA Silencer!
Believe it or not, I managed to crush my GPU with one when installing.... Too much torque on the screwdriver I guess. If you put one on, good for you, they work great, but don't overtighten the screws. Go until you start getting resistance from the screws, then go a little bit more. The heatsink sho...
