How to control VF-700 /w HD 3870? (3-pin vs 4-pin)

Hello! I got an ASUS Radeon HD 3870 a week ago, as it has quite low idle power and apparently rather quiet stock cooling. However, I forgot about my NB heatsink which apparently makes the stock 2 slot cooling not fit in my chassis. (The NB is behind the upper PCIe slot) I researched which 3rd party ...

The lack of grounding could be doing it, especially considering that the PSU is sitting outside of your case (was this true in all three?). Electronics can get a bit unpredictable when they're not grounded, although usually the worst that can happen is that the equipment will be "live" compared to ...

Mysterious Fiery PSU Deaths (3), Help!

Something very strange is happening in my apartment. My PSU:s keeps going up in smoke. Yesterday, i assembled the following components: MSI i875P NEO-FIS2R P4 2.4 Northwood with AC Freezer 512MB RAM 40MB Fujitsu Hard drive Aspire PSU with plexiglass that i have fanswapped. I know that all components...

wow, that is good. that shg.biz are getting seasonics that is.
i wonder what exactly the 400W is, since seasonic only make 380 and 430W S-12s. i've mailed them about it.
i am worried that the 500W is noiser than the 430 W, which i'd prefer.

1 vs 2 80mm fans

there are many PSU:s that are designed with two 80mm fans, one sucking and one blowing. does this really improve airflow over the heatsinks compared to only one fan as an exhaust? afaik the airflow over the heatsinks will be the rated CFM of the fan(s) in both cases? i reckon that it does provide be...

I also live in sweden and plan to buy a S12-430.
my current plan is to buy it at siliconacoustics.com for

Seasonic S12-430 99.99
Shipping: 43.75

that seems to be the cheapest way.. might also get some nexus fans at the same time.

Seasonics in sweden

I live in sweden too, and i am going to order my S12 from http://www.siliconacoustics.com/

the lower price of electronics across the pond easily makes up for the freight cost.

Tagan 420W or Nexus 4090 400W

these PSU:s are about comparable in price level, and i kind of wonder what to buy. i'll use it with a A8NSLI Deluxe Mainboard with one 6600GT. i suppose that these high quality 400/420W should be enough? i could get the tagan 460W for 200 SEK more. i've heard that that motherboard is very picky abou...

going socket 939, memory questions etc

hello! i love this site, it is truly a great resource for the noise conscious, most of the pc enthusiast community seems only to bother about getting 500 fps and overclocking with 20000 rpm fans and stuff. anyway, i am clear about the big picture: -A8N SLI Deluxe Socket 939 socket 939, seems to be t...

i will probably get the ADDA then, but how will a L1A compare?
it'll be interesting, though i am stuck in the military for three weeks before i can do anything with my computer at home.

well, i intend to try. i live in sweden, though, so nexus fans are awfully hard to come by. how do you think panaflo L1A will suffice? i can get ADDA or papst 80 mm too. the adda seems rated very low, at 15 dbA, could this really be correct?

Fan-modding an Aspire 500W

hello!
i own one of those notorious silly looking half-plexiglass Aspire PSUs with 2x80 mm fans. i was wondering if anyone had any experience with changing them for something quiter?

i love this forum btw.
